How to fix Ashe

hoganftw··1 votes·881 views

Ashe right now is currently sitting at a 51~% winrate and frankly that's too low for an ADC. I just feel like she is far too immobile for the current state of League and her damage is tad too low. Here are my proposed fixes:

Passive: keep as is, but add an element where critical strikes immobilize enemy champions

Q: add a dash or movement speed buff to allow her to follow up w: deals extra damage to champions who get hit by more than one arrow, lower CD + mana cost E: reveals invisible champions and wards R: scales with AD, lower CD

Hopefully this helps her become more viable! Tell me what you think!

Probably 99% of teams have an ADC. By the rules of math that means that some have to have below a 50% win rate as long as any of them have above a 50% win rate.

That said, your suggestions buff every part of her kit quite heavily, and are definitely completely out of line, given that she's performing decently already.

Decently is not enough in the current state of League. There's a clear reason why you don't see decent champions in League of Legends competitive play and that's because champions need to excel. Nobody is impressed with a C student just because they're doing decent. Decent is the equivalent to a 7/10 IGN score. Sure you can be decent, but as with all aspects in life we must strive for perfection and excellence, no?

Ashe is one of the oldest champions in the game and it wouldn't be so bad to give her a real update to compete with the likes of Kai'sa and Ezreal.

I'd argue that's more a problem with the outliers than with champions like Ashe, and I don't see a need to buff a perfectly functional kit that's nicely around a 51% win rate with buffs as excessive as these proposed.

Perfectly functional kits just generally aren't enough in League. The idea of these outliers being just mere outliers suggests that they'd eventually be treated as nails sticking out in the wood. The reality of the situation is that oftentimes outliers are seen by the developers as a sign of a successful champion design. Usually rather than taking this or that from a more than perfect kit, they just tweak the numbers. Newer champions and reworks as a result, at least for the past couple of years, have only had more and more to work with. It seems it is only just now that Riot developers are slowly looking at the frankenchampions that they've created need to be put under the knife. But the damage has already been done, if you will. It is a game of outliers. Decent is just that, perfectly functional is just that. Perfectly decent will be unplayable in tomorrow's League.

Last year, 139/141 champions saw play on the pro stage. Champions need to fit in with a team's composition well and have a strategy behind the pick, they don't need to be the statistically strongest pick to do well in pro play. Pro play also has very little to do with what's viable in solo queue. There are mains of literally every champion with 55%+ winrates even in high elo. Your choice of champions matters much less than your skill level, especially in lower elos.

And this year, we're seeing the same champions across the board in all regions. Picking the occasional off meta pick doesn't mean that they're even remotely top picks. When it comes down to it, you could pick whatever you'd like and it'd work out swimmingly with the right team comp, or you could just pick what's best statistically, the strongest picks due to their status as "outliers", and what has worked, and what has been the overall meta defining champions that are currently dominating the esport scene. And while soloqueue does not reflect pro play and vice versa, it's not hard to see some of the same champs that dominate both aspects of the game for a very VERY good reason. They're just simply better champions. We can all pretend that they're all the same footing, but truth be told this is a game where every advantage counts.

Doesn't that basically counter your entire argument?

Not really. Just because it works doesn't make it the most optimal. Life is not about just what works. It's about what is best. You can get a nice degree in computer science and find a nice job. Great, good job. But you're not Bill Gates. You might be good, but there's always better. And when it comes down to it, the best teams pick the best champions.

Uhh.. no that's literally just wrong. The best teams have the most skilled players with the best strategy and teamwork.

Is that why we see Urgot vs Sion every comp game?

You actually don't though. It's only a few weeks into the season and LCS has already had 59 unique picks/bans, LEC has had 75, LMS has had 29 (in only 4 games), LCK has had 56, and LPL has had 74.

Ashe specifically has already seen play in 4 out of 5 regions. NA is the only place she hasn't shown up yet.

I actually went through all the champions played so far out of curiosity, We've already had 102 out of 143 champion picked/banned in just over 4 weeks.

Personally her E revealing stealthed champion and ward would be a nice add on but the rest, not so much. She is a utility marksman and fill it quite nicely.
