Shield Meta isn't fun.

I feel like, as with most things in the meta, that there is always counter play, always things you can do better. But shields? This meta of shield spamming nonsense making carries unkillable while giving them a number of other buffs is absurd. Playing against champions that can shield over and over, making your damage irrelevant has gotten out of hand imo. I think we need to implement SOMETHING that can help burst through shields. Sacrificing other stats to get it of course, something someone could buy to make getting through shields easier for you or your team would make the game healthier. I'm just tired of playing against Ori/Karma/Lulu/Janna blah blah blah every game and not being able to do anything about the dozens of shields they drop on tanks and adc's etc.

Phasing property on an item? Some percentage of your damage phases through the shield?

Make it build out of Whisper so it's in competition with Giant Killer and Grievous Wounds.

Mhm. After I've been through lethality meta, where literllaly everybody oneshots, through tank meta, where the dumbest kind of player can just pick a tank and do exceptionally well with it, I actually appreciate the current shield meta.

Didn't people ask for longer team fights? Isn't that what shields would give us?

I disagree with "makes damage irrelevant". Shields so far as I understand are temporary. Just like with any other part of this game you learn to play around it. I experienced this all season.

I play Sona and build her Utility and run with the Windspeaker's and Runic Armor and build Locket.

Yes, it's effective and yes if you are not aware of it in game you are apt to lose a trade, skirmish or even a team fight. However, when faced against good opponents the seem to engage when locket is on CD and take care to play around it.

Scarra and qt have said this before.

There needs to be an item that solely counters shield.

They've been practically useless for eternity, so about time

Any item that bursts through shields hurts champions who use shields to protect only themselves more than it hurts the carries getting overshielded.

Sion needs his shield.

Shields are the defensive equivalent to True Damage. Now damage dealers feel the pain that Tanks have had. The only way to counter shields is to build more damage and the only way to counter most true damage is to build more health.

massive damage meta isn't fun either

Agreed, ever play a lulu, ivern, and a lux in the game game? Might as well just afk.

Shields are fine, we just need to slightly reduce the time in which they are in effect. Is it really unfair that a champion designed to protect another is actually doing their intended job? It sounds to me that since you used the word "fun", this clearly is about people wanting to easily burst down squishies. If Riot introduces an item that nerfs shields (that are temporary, whereas health is permanent until damage is done), then that is a considerable nerf to champions who aren't much without their shields. Support Karma might be able to do considerable damage early on, but besides that, she's pretty useless without meaningful shields. Not trying to say that Grievous Wounds is grossly overpowered but, I've never seen a useful Soraka once the enemy team has 2-3 forms of Grievous Wounds (Executioner's Calling, Ignite, Morellonomicon). All Soraka does is heal and if you have an item that counters that, then you significantly weaken a champion. There's champions like Vlad, Voli, Swain, etc who do heal a lot, but do other things too. Maybe I'm overestimating how much an item would cut down shields by, but I don't want Karma to end up like Soraka.
