How to fix Evelynn

By fix I don't mean that they are OP, but that she always walks that fine line between just being good enough to be playable, or too strong because of her permanent invisibility.

So, tell me if I'm way off base here, but this is what might be a good fix.

Give her bleed damage, but reduce the base damage she does with her abilities. Basically, like a Darius style ability, but catered to Eve.

Why does this make sense? Well, a couple reasons.

First, she's a vampire... sorta. They imply she's a vampire anyways.

Secondly, this gives her counterplay and power at the same time. Don't want to die? Don't let her get stacks on you. When she gets fed she can still run around the map, pop out of nowhere, add bleed stacks to someone and kill them.

In summary, the way to do this would be to add a stacking bleed in magic damage to her E and her ultimate. She can do more damage on bleeding targets via each stack makes the bleed tick for more and works solidly with death fire. The ultimate could still do what it currently does, but add bleed stacks to enemies hit.

She wouldn't be losing or gaining any actual total damage this way (just moving it over into a stacking debuff), but it thematically makes more sense and lets her be the invisible assassin she's supposed to be without breaking her. Plus.. you know.. she makes spikes everywhere. You bleed when you get hit by spikes!

Unless you're a robot. Blitzcrank

That would be an enormous nerf... it would make her practically unplayable.

Evelynn's claim to fame is invisibility, to counter-balance this her damage has been crippled pretty hard, to further cripple it by making it DoT and exposing her further would make her the weakest character.

Notice that the overwhelming majority of long damage over time type skills are on TANK CHARACTERS (Ex: Amumu cry, Nautilus shield, Rammus ult, Sejuani W, etc.) because tank characters can remain in the fight longer than anyone else. Evelynn is not a tank and could not benefit from such a mechanic.

First, she's a vampire

Evelynn is not a vampire, or at least it is never stated in lore that she is a vampire. She has more in common with a pain elemental than a vampire.

She wouldn't be losing or gaining any actual total damage this way

Actually she would be losing a massive amount of up-front damage that way, awful idea, good thing you are not in charge of this kind of thing.... the only way such a thing could be balanced is if they wildly jacked up her base values and scaling to compensate for the loss of up-front damage.

This is just one of those agree to disagree things.

First, they've pointed out she's supposed to be a vampire type character multiple times and was one of the reasons she has been talked about for a rework.

Secondly, she already is a DOT character, it's just based on her Q. Her burst is in her ult and her E. I'm also not proposing to nerf her damage only to change it into the bleed which I said multiple times.

Also, there are plenty of DOT characters who are not tanks... obviously. All you have to do is look at the champion roster to notice that.

I mean, half the mages in the game have a form of DOT.

Lastly, the whole point here is not to have her be up front bursty because that is precisely why she is too heavy handed with the invisibility. You can't have an invisible person popping out of nowhere and insta killing you.

You entirely missed the point of this post, but felt the need to quote half of it to complain. :/

Oh well, I hear you, but I disagree.

{quoted} First, they've pointed out she's supposed to be a vampire type character multiple times and was one of the reasons she has been talked about for a rework.

1- "Vampire type character" =/= Vampire 2- Characters are not reworked for lore reasons 3- The lore of the game has all but been abandoned 4- She's fine

Secondly, she already is a DOT character

DoT means damage over type, referring specifically to abilities that require length to deal their damage rather than up-front effects (Ex: Malzahar's E vs. Annie's Q). Evelynn has no DoT abilities within her skillset.

Also, there are plenty of DOT characters who are not tanks... obviously. All you have to do is look at the champion roster to notice that.

Strawman argument. I never said there were no DoT abilities on non-tanks, I said the majority are on tanks precisely for that reason. Or to be even more precise; melee characters with DoT abilities are almost always tanks. Ranged casters like Brand/Malzahar are exceptions that bypass the rule.

I mean, half the mages in the game have a form of DOT.

... are you trolling? that's not even remotely close to true.

Lastly, the whole point here is not to have her be up front bursty

That's nonsense. There's a reason she is classified as an assassin; In fact Evelynn is one of the premiere assassins in League of Legends... since S1, she was effectively the first official assassin character and has continued to be one of the main assassin characters.

You can disagree with reality but reality does not bend to your emotions, your arguments have been decimated, gg'd hard.
