Vladimir or Malazhar?!
I just can't make a choice, help! :(
I just can't make a choice, help! :(
I only have Malzahar and haven't played
. I really enjoy playing Malzahar. Post 6 he is a 1v1 MONSTER! Passive voidlings with 100% bonus AD scaling (increases to 150% bonus AD after they are out for a bit), Good AP scaling on his abilities (once you look at full potential damage its gets scary), and he has a Linear AoE Silence (Call of the Void), AoE DoT % Max Health damage pool (Null Zone), targeted DoT that can even restore some mana should the possessor dies before it times out which then refreshes its time (Malefic Vision), and a point and click target suppression DoT (Nether Grasp). He has great utility in teamfights due to Call of the Void being able to potentially silence a whole team, and Null Zone can help him hit everyone if placed well with even more DoT. Add on the Deathfire Touch mastery and he really is a monster for DoT damage.
I will give my own two cents and say that Vladimir is a better champion.
However I feel that Malzahar is a bit easier to play. All you do is spam spells on the wave until you hit level 6. Your spells pretty much do all the work for you and lets you beat almost any mid champion in lane. Then when you hit level 6, you land up all your spells on someone and R them to do a lot of damage. Pretty basic. After using ultimate, Malzahar becomes a lot less useful, as his power is tied around his ultimate, which you just use to suppress enemies that are trying to dive and kill your carries. Malzahar's damage gets a lot weaker as the game goes from mid game to late game.
Vladimir is meant to farm up for half the game and become one of the biggest backline threats in the game. With enough items, his ULT > Q > E combo should 100-0 an ADC or at least take them very low. With Zhonya's and pool, you're also really hard to kill because you're invulnerable all the time. He's just really weak against some matchups early game and has very little kill potential in lane pre-6. Vladimir's Mid to Late game is super powerful. His damage is ridiculous and his survivability in teamfights is one of the best among mages.
I personally say get Vlad because he's a lot more fun in my opinion and doesn't have super one-dimensional, limited gameplay like Malzahar. I personally prefer a champion that dives enemy backlines as well.
Literally all you do on Malzahar is press QWER on someone. It will usually be a frontline champion because no backline champion is dumb enough to get into your ultimate range. The one thing I'd play this champion for is if the enemy has heavy diving potential. His ultimate really is a good peeling ability and can straight up shut down some champions.
On Vladimir, you can instakill the enemy ADC if you're fed enough and deal a ton of damage to the rest of the enemy team, too. Then you can pool and zhonya's while the enemy tries to desperately kill you.
Both
and
have their respective pros and cons. You pretty much explained it well honestly. It will just mainly come down to which is a better fit for him.
Also Malzahar can be built with sparing AD, or even full AD (full AD is gimicky and very risky, I only get
and
for AD), which make the voidlings he produces serious tower threats.
To Extasios: Try them both and see which is a better fit for you honestly.
bump
Neither.
I play both <3 I slightly favor Vlad over Malz though; faster cast times and can do stupid damage once he has some spellvamp so he can keep E stacked. Malz wins the dance contest though.

Malzahar also shits on just about every midlaner too
This could be up for debate. If the enemy laner doesn't know how Malzahar works... Yeah I can agree then.
BUT! We should touch on what some of Malzahars cons are: Major downside to Malzahar is that he has NO ESCAPES! NONE! Except this -->
which, lets face it, everyone takes. Learning to position with him is very important.
flip a coin, decide based on what you hope the outcome will be while the coin is in the air.
In my opinion, vladimir. I used to play a lot of malz and while he had strong burst and poke, it could be very frustrating to play him as he has no escapes, his ult is easy to cancel, and I had a lot of trouble carrying as him.
I picked up vlad two months ago, and I find him more enjoyable (maybe I'm just burnt out on malz), easier to carry with, and just better in general. He lacks the range of malz and cc of malz, but has much better sustain, aoe damage, and tankiness. Rylai's and ghost can make up for his range problems, and his pool makes it much easier for him to avoid ganks than malz.
I would say malzahar because now with deathfire touch you can build him full ad and still deal massive damage with spells
My friend told me this: If you wanna be effective with vladimir you need to play like a "little b**ch" (sorry for language) Because all you need to do is poke poke poke poke.... with q and have max stacks of e then when the enemy is low go all in
With malzahar you get countered easily with QSS
He is very good in low elo where poeple dont think about the counters and stuff a lot
also you have "space aids" and that's good
I personally would recommend you Vladimir because of the sustain with Q and the free HP/AP with the passive But I'm not saying that Malzahar sucks, He is pretty good too
