Before you solo/duo ranked consider the following

  • Do I know at least 2-3 roles, and have basic knowledge about the other roles and their purpose? It's been months since autofill was a thing it's not an excuse anymore people...

  • Can you play several champions in you're selected roles? I get it you like to play master yi jungle, but for god's sake learn a second champion.

  • Do I know the champion roster to a decent extent? You shouldn't have to ask the team what malphite is/does 6 minutes and 2 deaths into the match...

  • Do you actually want to win the games? people aren't playing ranked for a relaxing go at league, people wanna win and gain that sweet, sweet LP.

  • Have you ever used the phrase, "it's just a game" get that garbage out of here and go raise a child if you wanna spew that about. Everything can be trivialized, don't ruin peoples experience because you don't care.

  • Don't play ranked if you're internet can't get you better than 200 ping...seriously

  • Understand that your trinket can ward too. supports can only have 3 wards and aren't gonna be able to spend the entire game warding while the rest of the team buggers off.

  • First blood is not the end of the god damn game...

  • Being 0/4 as a team, your team having 0 kills and the enemy having 4, is NOT the GG you think it is...

  • Elo hell is 100% escapeable. I do it literally every damn year...to silver (I'm like lcs or something though so maybe that's it...)

  • You will play with some garbage player that goes 0/13/2. Move on, it happens.

  • You will play with some 15/15/0 Yasuo that blames the team for doing a 1v5 for the 8th time, since you weren't there. It happens, move on.

  • Low Elo, you will run into that 900k mastery Riven that can 1v4 you and ends the game 34/5/6. just remember that the smurf doesn't wanna play with persons of his/her own skill level and probably runs a stream where they smoke a vape pen like it's oxygen and they are suffocating and/or has a shirt with cleavage that goes to her(his?) naval. They aren't worth get frothy over.

  • There are mean people on league who will say mean things. Don't let them see your tears.

  • Understand that your support might be 0/8 because your adc is 23/2.

  • Understand that your support might be 0/8 because your adc is 2/23....

  • Pro players play the champs they do, with the builds they do because they are pro. Certain items aren't as good stats wise, but they make up for it by being PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS. You aren't a pro, build nice simple builds until you can play around weaknesses of champs and builds

there's more but this will give you an idea of why you shouldn't play ranked as soon as you 30 with 3 owned champs, no runes, and only one played role.

Agreed with everything except the it's just a game comment. Because, it is? Sure, it's good to win it, but if you stress yourself out about it it's not gonna do any good for anyone. You're just gonna end up tilting yourself. Relax, try to enjoy yourself, try to win of course, but if you don't? Hey, it's just a game.

why play a mode, in a game that is literally about competing btw..., where the entire goal is to gain Lp by winning if you just wanna relax and chill about a game? I don't flame or rage or anything but when people are doing some 3/10/5 stuff and it's not just a bad game, I'm gonna get grumpy for taking the time and effort to win when someone on my team is just like "meh"

League is just about my only pvp kinda game at this point (I honestly prefer co-op, single player type games honestly) and I just don't get why people played ranked to chill lol

Why play a video game at all if not to enjoy yourself? You can play ranked to gauge your skill and feel the satisfaction of seeing your rank get higher, but if you don't enjoy it, isn't that sort of meaningless? But I can't judge anyone elses reasons, everyone's different!

This 1000x. You can only change yourself and have no idea what everyone else is thinking/going through/reasons for acting. That's a psychologist's job.

When I play RekSai and tower dive you at level 3, then you proceed to rage in /all chat, I'm going to camp you. Not because I actually want to, but because you're already stressed to the point of making an ass out of yourself and likely to ragequit/throw harder. Your jungler is going to ignore you, not because he wants to, but because you've already lost in your own mind, and he knows this. He'd much rather spend the game trying to get one of his other winning lanes ahead.

When you say nothing, I'll likely move on to other lanes and try to counter-jungle/assert map pressure elsewhere. But the moment you get it in your head that this is "DO OR DIE LP OR NOTHING" you've already lost. Yes, try your best and pick favorable matchups for yourself, however you can't control what your team does - the only person you can change is yourself. While you're busy being tilted/grumpy/flaming teammates, the others who aspire to climb are looking at what they could have done to improve - see: Introspection. Try to make it a learning experience along with being calm like water. There's certainly a reason that LoL is your only PvP game - in a team game you have the ability to blame other people for your own mistakes. In a 1v1 environment, you have nobody to blame but yourself - which speaks worlds about a person's mental fortitude. You can't command an army of Indians when everyone assumes they're already Chiefs. Some games you will have to work around the 0/10 Yasuo jungle while you're 10/0 Malphite top. Some games you will be the 0/10 Yasuo, continuing to dive into the team to make "LCS BIG PLAYS." Both of these games you can learn something from.

Try to help your teammates with POSITIVE encouragement. If you see a 3 year old drop their ice cream, do their parents scold them and tell them how worthless they are for wasting their hard-earned money on them while they're upset over losing something they cared about? I certainly hope not. Now imagine the 3 year old throwing their ice cream and telling their parents it's their fault for not catching it. That's about the logic a lot of community will go off of here.

Not to mention it's absolutely hilarious to the vast majority of us when someone is actually offended at the "it's just a game" statement: because it is a game. If you're not actively pursuing a career that involved winning in this game, then LP is only there for your own ego and bragging rights.
