proof of this?

ive played vs renekton and then the game right after top pantheon and now im vs a quinn with ignite.

im a melee main.

can you pelase explain to me how this is fun and engaging.

every lane i have to play super safe and literally not go near the enemy laner once forcing myself to miss cs and exp because their champ just dicks me around.

i just dont get how you think top lane is fun right now.

does anyone at riot even play the game right now or do u just ignore top for the fun of it?

I agree with you, top lane is in a shit spot right now. DrMundo has been my answer to all the top lane fuckery.

mundo is in a shit spot rn though, and he also gets fcked on by ranged with any form of self-peel

How is he considered a good pick to you?

I have yet to play mundo into what I would consider a tough match up. Its just a very slow paced start that most people aren't patient enough to deal with.

The reason he works is that he just gets so much sustain that you can't force him out of lane and even if you push the waves under his turret, he is still able to CS VERY efficiently.

Here's his sustain:

  1. high base health regen plus recovery mastery plus perseverence mastery 2)passive which gives 0.3% max health regen per second
  2. Last hitting with cleavers heals you (with runic armor mastery)
  3. take health/5 quints 5)Ulti (post-6)
  4. all of the above increased by runic armor and spirit visage

Notice how much of that you actually get to start the game with. If you take a little too much damage on a trade, just step back, and cleaver farm yourself to full health while you regenerate 3x more health for free than the enemy laner. The only way you die early is if you get greedy or just get out of position.

Meanwhile, once he gets a full armor item (or spirit visage vs AP) he immediately has dive/turn potential. His E gives him significant flat bonus AD plus scaling Bonus AD based off percent missing health for 5 seconds on a 6 second CD without cdr (oh and its an aa reset as well btw). He also has CC reduction on his W (which is actually very over looked).

Basically, I let them push early, but i end up with the same CS. They over extend and get ganked. I have the CS advantage, but I continue to let them push. Somewhere soon after, I hit 6. I use Ghost first to initiate and trade. Then I either ult and dive or ult and zone. At this point I've either gotten a kill and a large cs/xp advantage or I'm zoning them off the frozen wave and getting a large cs/xp advantage. At this point you own the lane. Once you have an appropriate mix of defenses and health, it will take 2-3 people to stop you from pushing and diving.

EDIT: I think I only have 9 games with him in ranked but I mean I'm 8-1 over those 9 games and have had similar experiences when I was testing him in norms against all the toxic top laners.

Don't get me wrong, I know how Mundo works (mained him at one point), but it sounds like your enemies don't know how to build against you at all...

Grevious Wounds is so prevalent now item 3033 item 3165 summoner 14 have all gained in popularity, especially ignite after the exhaust nerfs

Not to mention Mundo can only catch people out of position, he has no "engage" except a movement speed buff. Anyone with proper positioning and any form of self-peel can go even or even dominate a lane against mundo. He also gets shredded in teamfights if he gets tagged by ignite.

Idk, I just feel like there are tons of better divers/juggs out there than a Mundo, especially in a lane against ranged champs

There are a fair amount of top laners that just don't benefit from building a mortal reminder. Morellos only kicks in when the target is below 35% health. And ignite is only up once every 5 minutes and most people generally reserve it for securing kills and not reducing healing affects on champions.

The few occasions where I am in a position where GW will get in my way, I generally will back out of combat, use my ult, and reengage.

When you have merc treads, swiftness mastery, his CC reduction from W, and move speed from ghost and your ult, you don't need much of a traditional engage tool. But it doesn't hurt to have someone on the team that can apply CC from a distance even if its something as simple as a mage with Rylais.

Most games I end up split pushing an early inhib on mundo. He wins a lot of 2v1s and can survive a lot of 3v1s so you're really playing him more as a split pusher to open the map for your team to collect as much global gold as possible. In reality, his role as a traditional tank comes more from the sheer advantage you cultivate from his mid game strength than it does from his ability to play as an end game tank. Also the more time you spend in top lane, the longer its going to take the adc to realize need to build item 3123

Essentially, think of playing him as a more mobile nasus rather than a tank with heavy engage and cc.

fair enough, perhaps I should give him a try

only times ive played him recently were to fck around in the jg...and the times ive done it have luckily been when the enemy team were tards so it worked out xD

Top lane has been in a shitty spot for a longggg time now. Most of the problems could've been fixed through making Dshield relevant again, but whatever. Maybe they'll do something about it in either the tank or diver class updates
