Riot is catering toward casual players. It's all part of Riot's big plan with Runes Reforged.

Right now, Riot is doing what Bungie has done with the Halo franchise.
Bungie created a competitive game that goes off the charts in competitive esports. Making it the greatest first person shooter ever.
Halo 3 comes up, still competitive but casual aspects get implemented. Still a damn great competitive game with amazing gameplay mechanics. Lower skilled players get dumped on by higher skilled players. Huge skill gap.
Then, once at the peak of excellence, Bungie decides to creat a game known as Halo: Reach...
The game started to drop quickly because it wasn't as competitive as the original trilogy.
Bungle hands over the Halo Franchise to microsoft's 343 Industries..
343 Industries develops Halo 4, which was a complete joke. A casual snooze fest that even esports stopped showcasing Halo competition. Viewership has been hindered and Halo 4 quickly dropped off. It wasn't competitive at all. Players were able to spawn with 1 shot pocket shotguns and players had these dumb "loadouts"
Riot's going through the same direction. It's Sad... The Halo franchise, especially Halo 3, was my favorite game, until Halo 4 showed up...
League has been my favorite competitive game for a long damn time until preseason 8 showed up.
