Why not Warmog's Soraka?

If she bought Warmog's armor, Visage, Rylai's, and maybe a few more health items, then she could just stay back and heal right? Since she isn't taking damage by healing, her warmog's heart would heal her a ton. Why does this not work?

Sorakas W cost 10% of max health.. increasing your health doesnt give you anymore spell cast... so.. if you are trying to survive .. resistances are really what you should build.. but i have found AP and CDR is a better direction rather than raw health.. and a picture to explain this: Soraka "my W cost 10% of my max health.. so i can cast it 9 times.." item 3083 "what if you had more health?" Soraka "if I had more health i could cast my W 9 times" Volibear "but my W scales off bonus health.. is that good for me?" item 3083 "yes.. me and you can be friends forever you furry ball of flipping happiness"

Why does this not work?

Two reasons. First, you won't be healing for that much. There is a big difference between healing with some significant AP, and healing off of small base values. It makes a huge difference if you're trying to save someone from bursty damage.

Second, you won't actually get a higher number of heals off in a real fight if any damage goes onto you. If Warmog's Heart gets disabled, then you're still losing 10% of your health with every cast, but you're healing less and getting less relative health back from your Q. That is going to happen, because you are going to take damage in a fight (if you don't, the enemy was so incompetent that the fight was yours to win anyway). The only time you're getting value out of this is when you're in a pure poke situation and the HP regen allows you to heal endlessly.

If you really want Warmog's, you want to barely hit 3,000 health with it. You want as little health as possible so that you're not costing yourself any more health with your W than you have to, and so that as much of the rest of your gold is in AP or resistances as possible. That's the best way to play to Soraka's strengths. I'd maybe get it as a last item, but I'd think long and hard about it first.

6 item slots. Boots, sightstone, zeke's, mikaels, talisman, locket. I can only see warmog replacing mikaels or locket, but you rarely get enough gold and I would say AP items are better. ARAM is a different story.

Because Warmog's is bad on Soraka, a support caster who stays on the backline and would rather have AP, CDR, and utility over tankiness.

She also can't afford it as a support, and mid/top lane Soraka got pretty gimped by the loss of self heal. She has a weak early game, if you're going for something like Rylai's or Visage first, and doesn't have anyone to heal in a solo lane, depriving her of a lot of her power.

Also, her W heal costs %max health. So even if you're healing a lot, your heals cost even more with higher max health. Having more health hurts your value from flat health regen and potions. You also heal less per heal than an AP build, so you have to heal more often, costing more health.

You also won't finish your build for a very, very long time, even in a solo lane. Warmog's+Visage+Rylai's is 2750+2700+3000=8450g, plus you'll want boots. Pretty much impossible for a support who needs Sightstone/wards, and by the time you have that, your opponent has item 3285 item 3089 item 3135, or item 3153 item 3142 item 3077 item 1053 and can still kill you.

Before they changed the Warmog's passive to activate with 3000 HP I used to get it on her. It was super helpful during skirmishes because I would be able to heal someone and then regen the health outside of combat. Now, you'd lose too much power to get to 3000 HP.

warmorg's heart deactivates at any damage she takes even self inflicted I noticed it on DrMundo since sora's heal hurts herself safe to say that it will do the same as mundo. however as a matter of wonder and willingness to check things out I will go play a bot match and test out the theory you have about warmogs on sora.

If you're going warmogs Soraka, it's best late game when you build randuins and warmogs to go over 3k.

Problem is, support income. It's going to take awhile. If you want warmogs earlier, then you need more health items so sure. Rylai's isn't half bad.

I tried a few times . it works, but make sure that you stack a decent ability power.

It does work, and it's insanely broken in ARAM.

Though people seem to think you won't heal for much even though all you need is the Warmogs and a Rod of Ages. Then you can get whatever you want for your last four items.

It would be much more efficient to buy items with Mana, AP, and CDR. Mana and CDR to keep Q spamming to heal yourself. AP and CDR to make your heals stronger. Health won't contribute much other than sponge tanking if you aren't healing, which is your specific job. As for Health regen, there is not really a point to it if you are hitting Q's on enemy champs.

Soraka does well with poking comps. Mainly because her Q allows her to damage and sustain. If she's hitting Q's then she can heal others.
