Lag is becoming a gameplay issue. Especially for East Coast Players
Riot, since your server technicians seem to be completely overwhelmed by the server problems, what plans do you have to address lag on the gameplay front?
This game is in sore need of features that make being on the wrong side of a Adobe Air 4v5 bearable, or that lessen the disadvantage that comes with having 100 to 150 more ping.
One extremely simple way you could soften the load for East Coast players is to simply push the metagame in a more bulk focused direction. In a metagame where death is the best CC and players are often bursted down in the blink of an eye, 100 ms ping makes a difference. In a slower paced metagame where building bulk actually means something (e.g. no LW/VS and/or buffs to defensive items), that 100 ping difference doesn't mean so much because you can actually react in time to be able to do something about your death.
Alternatively, you could explore mechanics that help players in outright 4v5s. For example, the short handed team could get wave respawn (whenever a new player dies while another player is waiting to respawn, the second player to die respawns at the same time as the first player) while they remained shorthanded. The short handed team could get double kill bounties or increased experience gain to give them an advantage they could use. You could even have the 5th player be controlled by a bot, or have a "drop in" queue to replace disconnected players.
When so many other games have adopted systems like these, it's inexcusable that Riot remains so far in the past. Especially when a lot of these games with lag protection mechanisms actually have better servers and more reliable clients then Riot.
