I feel like getting a win streak should grant a decent chunk of extra LP that continuously grows the longer the streak is.

For example 3 win streak = +10LP 5 Win streak = +30 LP

This already exists in the form of mmr. Your mmr starts scaling faster the higher your winstreak. This will eventually trickle into your lp. This is how challenger players get accounts from lvl 0 to challenger in a week. Takes like 70 games

Good point. I was trying to get to that with my rant, but I was going at a more mathematical approach.

Does that mean you get a lose streak penalty as well? I've gone on plenty of 3 game winstreaks (also known as a hot streak), however I think this would cause people to climb faster than they should (at least at higher streaks). That would mean if I started at 0lp, and gained 22 per game (common) I'd end up with 76lp after 3 games OR above 25lp per game. However, if they continued to get 22 lp after this bonus, they still need 2 games to get to promos (same as before the 10lp bonus gain). Now for your suggested 5 game winstreak, if you start at 0lp, you will basically get to 100lp and make your additional 30lp useless (if you're getting 20lp per game). Unless you mean 3 wins before promos, 2 wins in promos, and then start with 30lp the next division?

Either way, I don't really think it would be that great of a system. Usually if you're on a hotstreak your lp gain goes up anyways, I think an additional bonus would either go unseen (3 game winstreak) or would make people climb faster than they should (5 game winstreak into the next division). I'm a bit torn on this. Because I feel it would make people FEEL like they were getting somewhere faster (for the hotstreak) but in reality they are playing just as many games. And it could also cause the 95-99 lp games to be more common, which are INFURIATING. I think people would prefer a "grace" lp of 5-1lp when you hit 95-99, just so you can get to promos. Or at least count the last game that would get you to promos (if you win) as the first of your promo games.

Edit: not to mention, usually if you hit a 5-7 game winstreak you /usually/ skip divisions (at least in my experience). So if you don't lose a game during division and promos you just skip.
