I think Caitlyns W, would be a lot less frustrating to play against, if it was 3 at all ranks.

Cause, any new caitlyn might place them around any not make full use. A decent caitlyn will zone u or use them in choke points.

A level 5-7 Champion mastery caitlyn **will **make your life a living hell,

  • She has a good team that knows how to peel
  • She knows how to effectively self peel with her e and w trap placement
  • She has a really big front line, making it difficult to dive her ( unless your team comp is all dive, and they might not be good cause then wheres **your **front line )
  • Her range already + item 3094 boi, then you add in a item 3085

The only reason Caitlyn is not played more is her R being complete rubbish.

Her range + the traps galore is just dumb. Can't trade, can't poke, can't engage. Good stuff Rito. Seems like some really healthy game design right there.

Zone you/choke points; hey, it's almost like a champion is supposed to have all 4 of their skills be useful.

But it gives her a crit, for an insane amount of damage..

If you step in it. Don't step in it.

Fair enough.

When there are 5 of them literally taking up the WHOLE LANE, it's kind of hard not to step in it. Either you sit on one side of it, or you try to walk through it and end up hitting one because they have a semi-wide hitbox and then she does half of your health in one hit on a non-crit with an IE alone.

Never had that problem, harder to move around sure, but shouldn't just passively have 5 all over your lane. That's also only at rank 5.

Let's think teamfight here, you know mid lane? Imagine her outer turret is down. With rank 5 traps, she can trap the whole lane with very small margins to walk through because of the lack of space there. And by the time she's level 11/12, she's probably going to have a few items under her belt and she will HURT.

And then, you could have a utility support like Alistar, Blitz or Thresh to put them into the traps forcefully.

Plus, if someone else lands CC on an enemy you can just trap under them and keep them there for longer.

Love playing Cait, hate fighting her. :P

Her traps are her own bait as well, and she is easily caught out. If you run into the traps, you're pushing. So you're on the offensive, i.e setting up for an engage. Get hit by a trap, you know Caitlyn will move forward to take the shot. This is where you try and catch her. Now yeah, if the fucking Ahri or something steps on the trap, there goes half the health. The appropriate time to grab traps is when your initiating tanks are pushing them far enough so Caitlyn can't take the shot or use someone as a bait for the engage to grab her.

Now this isn't a 100% play rate in this sense, or else it'd be a useless skill. Sometimes it's fucking strong and will make pushing stressful, and sometimes you play around it and make all the traps useless as you push past them. It's a good, strong zoning tool no doubt. However, it's not the end all, be all. Counterplay exists, however not in all situations.

The most cliche, common answer is simply look at the pro scene and watch their ADCs. If her traps were that good, she would be pick/ban. If pros can work around traps, so can regular players.

I think you're thinking old Cait traps with her "MOVING FORWARD TO TAKE THE SHOT" because it pretty much doubles her range.

And besides, a smart Cait i.e. myself when I play her, knows when to not take the shot because I can just throw down more traps anyways because of the charge system.

And I'm sure she would be played more in the LCS if the ADC meta right now wasn't composed of 4 or 5 viable ADCs.

Well the range is long, but not super long. Caitlyn shouldn't really be anywhere near the front line against a pushing enemy team with an initiator looking for you. Flash bandage, or other examples are always threats. Not saying she can't take the shot, but it's never simply "Line traps across a lane, push is over we win." There's always ways around it, and the charges have CDs.

And she isn't in the LCS because she's not one of those "viable" ADCs. If her traps were that potent and useful, she would be viable.

coming from a nidalee player when cait and nid traps used to be nearly identical, i find it pretty sad that cait traps now do more damage than nid traps, can only proc on champs (so u can place them in lane), have charges so u can store them and spam them all at once, and root which nid traps dont even do vs monsters anymore...

while i dont play cait.. i do feel her traps are crazy strong compared to nid's traps.
