IK it's been asked before... But Seriously? Why is Autofill still a thing in LoL?

I was doing amazing recently and ran into a game where i was autofilled adc, i haven't done much adc this season and it's arguable my weakest role, i asked to trade and nobody would so i went tryndamere because the two adc's i actually would have played were banned out by the enemy team, and considering the enemy team picking turtle adc's would've just been useless anyway, we did okay for a bit but eventually got smashed because i couldn't do anything to help the team win...

Why would a situation like this ever have to exist or come up?

Autofill is there because people above diamond are in 20 min + ques for a game constantly. I asked them why is it still up for lower elos whee que times are no longer than 5 mins guess what i got flamed threated & downvoted into oblivion. High elo would've been terrible in d1+ but below that it's a pointless system that creates toxicity

One guy on Reddit played 430 games on fill and he got autofilled like 49% supp, then adc, then (near) top, then jng and the least Midlane, a role he got autofilled only 5 times in the 430 games.

Compare the 5 games Mid with the 200~~ games he got autofilled Supp.

That's why autofilled exist.

When I have played ranked in season 5 I think - the queue time around plat 1 was insane. There was no such thing as choosing a role. You can imagine wating super long, then someone dodges, because gets counterpicked or something. I also played back in the day team builder and we could wait for like 1 hour to find a support. There is a reason why autofill exists.

the trick is to play a support match in draft and BAM you got autofill protection for a few marches at least.

Dude autofill shouldn't be in ranked at all. If ur a support main and u get autofilled for jg ur playing for a role u dont care about. And in ranked its ur first time jg and ur literally going against a m7 1 mil pts master yi. Its stoopid bruh. They needa take it out the game. Bro id rather wait extra in the q then spend 30 min to an hour playing a role i dont fucking care about. No one ever wants to switch roles. its just stupid

When I am "role protected" queuing for top/mid my waits are never more than 3 minutes, and that's WITH mid as the main role. Even at times I was getting matched with mid-low diamond.

Autofill shouldn't exist except at higher MMRs, and even then, there should be a way to avoid being autofilled to your worst or second worst role, since that is MUCH more impactful at high MMRs (D2+) than low MMRs. It pretty much determines the outcome of some games by itself.

I'd be completely fine if I could queue top/mid/jungle, but instead I'm restricted to 2 roles. When I get autofilled, its almost always bot lane, which are my worst two roles since I have very little practice in it.

If the system prioritized a tertiary role as well, everyone would hate autofill a little less. Everyone. Because there are a lot of people that have support as their tertiary as well, so it would happen less frequently.
