"If Varus detonates a stack of blight he gains X% attack speed per blight stack detonated for X sec"

I feel like if we changed Varus' current attack speed passive to this it would synergize far better and make his passive have more of a use than its current incarnation. It would be a significant change without truly changing any of his numbers or scalings.

As if Riot would buff Varus.

Honestly I'd prefer it the way it is now. The way I see it changing it like that could help in extended fights but would reduce his overall laning.

Yes but the problem it has now is that if you haven't killed anything then you have no passive until you do. Its a buff that only functions if your already going to win the fight which IMO is not that great.

Jinx has a similar Idea but her passive allows her to disengage or catch up where as Varus has a few seconds where he attacks faster and nothing else.

Shrug... It is an effective laning tool in addition to being a boost in extended fights. It is purposely conditional in a way that enforces him as a caster and differentiating him from other marksmen. It is a near constant AS boost in lane the way it is. If they changed it to what you suggest you would lose that for semi-delayed AS boost in skirmishes/extended fights. I'm not saying either one is better than the other... I'm just saying I like it better the way it currently is.

I Disagree it just feels like an effective laning tool. He has enough laning tools in just the bonus damage on his W which makes last hitting with him far easier than most champions in the game. The passive attack speed only helps once he kills the minion and for poking you would be better off getting in a hit or 2 and then detonating it with a quick Q than you would killing a minion then going ham.

If he had the passive i suggested he could poke a hit or 2 and then detonate and if the enemy decided to engage then he has a boost of attack speed already procced for the fight which makes him a bit more competitive when it comes to head to head dueling. In an optimal fight with the passive i suggested he could drop his ulti then Q/E the enemy detonate those stacks gain a boost to his attack speed then quickly stack 3 more blight stacks and detonate them again which would refresh the attack speed boost long enough for him to have time to proc another 3 stacks once he has enough cdr. It rewards good play with the benefits of being able to keep up a continuous assault.

Right now he has to kill a champion to receive a 6 second or a minion to receive a 4 second benefit to his attack speed and then he has to kill another champion or minion to get the bonus to refresh again.

in a 1v1 duel he needs the attack speed during not after the fight. In teamfights it works but its such a short duration that you waste more than half the duration positioning rather than utilizing the passive.

That's exactly my point though... I'm not saying you should kill a minion and then go ham because it's really not good enough for that. What I am saying is that you can use the small AS boost as you kill minions to more easily get a couple of AAs off on the enemy before you disengage with a Q or E as you disengage...

I mean part of the problem is that he really isn't supposed to be good at dueling as a distinction between him as a caster/adc hybrid and other duelist adcs. You want a more consistent and readily available AS boost but one could argue he shouldn't have that due to his long-range caster tendencies.

My biggest issue with his current passive is that it has no impact what so ever UNLESS you are casually farming minions or are already winning a fight. Its a power boost that comes AFTER when you need the power the most.

Mhmm... I understand... but I also understand why Rito wont change it...

Or they could just simply move his current W passive to be his normal passive and give him a new skill.

Paroe1 votes

Instead why dont you swap his current passive and his W, and turn his current passive into an attack speed steriod that can be infinitely extended when CSing properly?

HandheldBrandon1 votes

I mean its not a bad idea but then again it still doesnt really solve anything.

Actually... it does. Stop playing varus as an ADC and play him as an AD caster. Hes designed AS an AD caster in the first place.
