Why do cripples prevent Darius ult?
Doesn't seem to me like Darius ult is mobility...

Cripples are things that reduce attack speed. Those do not prevent his ult. Grounded does, as will any immobilize effects. The reason is that his ult is a dash.
His ultimate cast range is larger than his auto-attack range, the game treats it as a dash I believe.
do you mean "grounded"?
it is a gap closer, it has not-insignificant range that allows Darius to dash to his target.
