I miss when my main spells actually did damage

While the damage might have become insane these past seasons, the actual abilities on most champions themselves seem to not even feel like they hit hard. I miss the days when hitting a shuriken with Zed would hit for a nice amount of damage, when my Rake as Talon would chunk people (provided that I hit these spells ofc). These days they feel like they barely tickle someone.....but with increases damage everywhere outside of these champions' kits they still easily oneshot. It just doesn't feel rewarding to land spells earlygame anymore, while at the same time killing people is child's play because of other tools like Electrocute/Sudden Impact/Ignite/Duskblade etc.

Seriously on Talon I can miss my W and still oneshot someone even when I'm not fed, wtf is that? Why do these bread and butter spells feel like they don't scratch someone, but when you throw in all sources of damage together someone just explodes in an instant?
