Zed is the most Overrated Champion

People keep talking about Zed as though he is this Godly No Skill Insta Win champ.

The reality is much different though. More often than not the Zed on your team turns out to be useless unless he snowballs (and even if he does, he's often irrelevant because of his terrible late game).

Its not too hard to just sit back and farm and just avoid the all ins.

His late game is absolutely trash tier. The mage buys a Zhonya and he loses his Ult. When people group together, there is too much natural CC to the point where he can't do anything because he has to get close to try and kill and he'll just be deleted for being so squishy. If he torpedoes himself to take a carry down with him it gives his team no real advantage. Also, picking Zed screws up your team comp because you have 2 AD carries and less AP; you could instead have had a proper mid Mage who has utility and damage late into the game. Zed's AOE and poke is sub-standard.

He takes way too much practice for far too little pay-off. Why even play him when you can instead play Annie and go F + R + Q + W+ Ignite for 100-0s without fail? Zed's combos are unreliable as hell (miss 1 Shrunken and your Thunder Lords isn't going to activate). His ''escapes'' are rarely available since you need to blow your shadows and your Ult to close the gap half the time and even then your assassination can be stopped by some kind of a CC or by the enemy's unexpected movement. Meantime, I'd take an Annie combo + Zhonya (for team follow up) anytime.

What do you think? Zed over-rated?

That doesn't stop him from being frustrating as all hell to deal with, though. Even if a Zed player is bad, he's still playing Zed.

Nah you mean low elo cause in high elo people know how to deal with him better.

Assassin lovers act like mages can instantly obtain zhonyas. Rarely do you ever see a mage rush that as there first item. I'm a plat 2 xerath main, the fact being my mana issues are more pressing than nullifying one champions ult. Yes I won't die but I also won't be able to sustain myself mid game in team fights. I'll be oom more than likely. The whole point of an assassin is to have a strong early and late weak game. Frankly if your team doesn't push to end early than that is the risk.

I play Mages and I always rush Zhonya if its against an assassin. And I don't view it as much of a disadvantage to my build because it simply suits the situation better.

The enemy team doesn't have an opposing Mid Mage and so even if I get Zhonya first, chances are, I'm still the character with the most consistent and highest AP hitting attacks. I get the added utility of negating all-ins; sounds like a good trade.

Losing some CDR and mana regen is entirely fine when the other team doesn't get it either (because they picked an assassin mid instead of a mage mid). So I really lose nothing from rushing Zhonya first.

Well considering you just compared an assassin to a mage on losing out over mana regen, not the greatest of comparisons. However I do see your point, frankly I don't see why zed players qq so much. Considering they have one if not strongest early games out there. I don't see why the crying. Most assassin players typically have horrible positioning and attempt to initiate the fight themselves when they should be waiting for an opportune moment. Rarely do I ever see that.

Forgot to also mention itemization is definitely in favor of ad champions currently.

No, you can't "sit back and farm" against Zed. He has far too much range and zoning ability with his W. No, a mage buying zhonya's doesn't remove his ult - it causes him to ult someone else, or the mage if the mage already used zhonya's. And as for Annie go try playing her.

Zed is banned for good reason right now.

Annie is way better though. She can nuke the whole team without effort while Zed struggles to assassinate a single person in team fights against a coordinated team.

In scenarios where the team plays around Annie by staying apart; their team fighting is still crippled because they have to maintain that formation and fight safely out of fear of Annie's burst AOE nukes. Meanwhile, a team that plays around Zed continues to fight optimally (you're SUPPOSED to hold your CCs and save them for the main carries anyways).

I'd say overrated, but only in certain ways. He is way too safe and he is definitely frustrating to play against, but there is no denying the inherent strength of a very mobile, high damage, high wave clear assassin.

Most of what makes him frustrating is that he has mage like AoE and poke with some of the best 1v1 all-in potential in the game. Yes you can shut him down in a team fight or with a well timed Zhonyas, but when he's able to shadow out more than half the time, you feel like it's inevitable that one of these times he'll actually pull off the kill and snowball the whole team fight (even if he never actually will). This feeling is what makes Zed seem so strong, even when half the time he doesn't get that snowball he needs to succeed.
