Why did Emperor Build Bloodthrister first?

He's so far ahead, wouldn't he want the critical chance and damage of Infinity Edge to keep his snowball rolling? I'm just Gold 5, so I'm just trying to wrap my low-elo mind around an Item I've been told not to build first in the past.

Should I get Bloodthirster first when I play Draven in SoloQ?

Because why not. TDK's just having fun right now.

He did it because it allowed him to have a safer Laning phase with the lifesteal. However, he gave up lots of damage for it, so it should only be considered when you are in an absolutely terrible matchup.

Still go IE in solo queqe.

I never get this "BT is so much less damage than IE" line. They both give 80 AD. The only extra damage IE gives is 25% crit chance and the buff to crit damage. It's entirely possible for you to get ass RNG, not crit once during a fight, and wish you had that 20% lifesteal that's guaranteed to apply to every auto.

Yet statistically you will do a lot more damage. I don't get what's hard to understand about that.

True, OR it's entirely possible to hit that ass RNG two or three times in a fight and increase your damage output by a HUGE margin. ESPECIALLY on Draven with his Q as well. He built BT because he was getting beat and needed the lifesteal to stay in lane. IE would have been the choice if he'd been doing well. BT if you're behind so you don't get shoved out of lane.

Of course if you were losing already AND you by an item with inferior damage output it makes it even less likely that you can turn it around and regain control of the match-up. That is why most people will try for an IE even if behind. RNG might let them win a fight if they get lucky. BT will just make it take longer for them to lose unless they can carefully manage trades and back off to sustain up between them, which will only push the enemy out of lane, at best.

There are ADC that function better with alternate first rush items. While most want IE into Zeal, some like Draven can go BT because he does so much dmg with his Q if he catches axes. Vayne often goes Botrk as first item as it helps her dueling and "bad early game", because she can proc silver bolts more often. Twitch also went Botrk + Youmus. Not gonna mention the triforce champs.

BT is better on Draven imo. His Q lets him life steal so much

because he has so much extra damage with his Q already. Since he was going to be such a priority target, he needed some survivability
