Roa Deathcap and seraphs gives a minimum of 481 ap

Using poppy, who has the lowest base mana at level 18 (745), you would get 481 ap with this build item 3027 item 3089 item 3040 if we take a ap based champion that could benefit well from this build, you would get TwistedFate at 911 mana this gives you 485 ap this is no runes, no masteries, no other ap items. This build, if you want to go raw damage, is incredibly strong. it doesnt give any utiliy, but you still have 2 item slots (assuming you get boots, if not then 3). The mana gives you the power to spam your spells all game, and the roa plus seraphs active gives you a good amount of survivability. honestly this build is so powerful, it can go on almost all ap champions. last 2 slots can be a cdr item and a utility item and you could be set.

You would need to sacrifice early game.

Like really sacrifice it.

catalyst is a good early game item, because of passive.

Only on those who don't need AP to farm, like malzahar.

IMO this is a good build path for spell spammers that need mana. This is the number one build path for Karthus and Ryze , mainly ryze because his ult passive gives him 30% CDR. The biggest sacrifice otherwise is CDR, I like this build personally and it's hilarious to go 3 RoA's and death cap with Seraphs embrace. But it's not optimal for all mages :P

And I'd still recommend against it.

For the majority of mages, their base stats are actually proportionally high compared to their AP Ratios. If you're building for raw damage, Magic Penetration is usually your first step above everything else.

yes, thats why you get mpen boots as 2nd/3rd item, plus some mpen reds, but theres not many mpen items.

3 big ticket items, including Rabadon's Deathcap which is one of the more expensive finished items in the game with one of the most annoying build paths, SHOULD add a lot of stats.

And we aren't even mentioning yet how you chose two items that take a long time to stack. For you to finish Seraph's Embrace by any reasonable time stamp that means you needed to purchase an early tear meaning you spent a sizable chunk of gold in the early game on an item with zero defensive or offensive stats.

That player took a gamble by giving up stats in the early game and it sounds like it's paying off in a reasonable way.

this is my basic anivia/ryze build, both of whom use mana like a motherfucker. i stack tear on most ap champs for the ability spam too, tear can be a first back item, and you can get catayst with tear for 1950, which isnt too much.

All 3 of those are expensive and 2 of those actually need time to achieve their power. It's fine for certain champion but on most it's suicidal.

roa is already 103% gold efficient at the very beginning, and tear can be bought early, while finishing it can be done later (i normally end up finishing it after its full or pretty darn close)

The only mage who I can tell that reliably builds all three of these items is Anivia. Her base damage is high enough to just opt into early item 3010 item 3070 without missing out on much damage or sustain.

Velkoz item 3089 item 3040 item 3027 item 3174 item 3116 item 3158 not built in this specific order with CDR runes (to meet 40/45%) can turn you into a back line artillery machine.

Edit: this build makes you serious assassin bait tho, so not always the best choice especially in this meta.

Vel Koz has 2 slows (q, r) and a knock up (e) so that's 3 ways built into his kit to proc Liandry's Additional burn passive (hp %) Give him Thunderlords (this keystone is so good you can put it on anyone) but Vel actually has a reason for it, 3 stacks of his passive = 3 stacks of Thunderlords = Passive + Thunderlord proc = Lots of hidden true burst dmg. The only spell that would benefit from Rylai's is his w. Which, admittedly is a good enough reason to use it, considering he can cast w without interupting his movement and can store 2 charges, making Rylai + w his best bet at kiting. But just personally imo I'd have Liandry's over Rylai's, and Morello's over Athene's so the grevious works with his passive.

I've even put a Frozen Heart + Banshee's Veil + Zhonya tanky build as Vel one game, and ended up doing the most dmg through sustained true dmg off of his passive and surviving enough to keep churning out dmg. As a matter of fact I'm gonna use this build a few times today see if its still viable.

Liandry's is a great choice over rylies for damage, especially with the MR penetration. But yeah I enjoy getting Rylies for just the W slow which is incredibly effective for kitting and team fights. I have never bought morrello's on vel'koz, might have to try that haha especially on this build with 2.5k Mana anyway.

All Day Tay Tay2 votes

you can trade rylies for hourglass, and if you want to keep the build, remember roa gives 500 hp, plus seraphs shield

Cremepie1 votes

right right, I just enjoy Rylies for the never ending kite slows, rather than the HP bonus. In reality tho hourglass is always a better choice haha.

A lot of mages really, reallly want a zhonya's early

... unfortunately too slow build for yoloQ.

All Day Tay Tay1 votes

yoloq actually last long enough. i know people are complaining that games last like 20-25 minutes, but in my experience, they last about 35-40. still shorter than it used to be, but still long enough for these items to finish. only when you get really high ranks/pro plays do games really last so short.

Well, that build is basically an almost endgame one so it kind of checks out, and as other people have said, you need to sacrifice an early game, for example, TF really thrives on getting some burst potential as soon as possible, specially with his Ultimate, and no Catalyst nor Tear of Goddess is going to give you that.

Also there's the issue that RoA and Tear of Goddess usually fight for your attention, because if you get one you're delaying the other for quite a lot, since both need time to get to the "maximum power" state.
