Why is Ivern such a terrible champion?

I know they have some changes on the PBE for him, but they aren't significant changes that are going to affect him. They're too small and way too late.

Now, before you go and post "Ivern is not a bad champion!" Let's be reasonable here. This champ has the lowest win rate in ranked play in the game clocking in at 40%.

And his win rate is terrible based on number of games played too, so don't go arguing that he's hard to master, but once you master him, he's good because that's not true either.

He Is A Bad Champion

There is a spike in win rate for the 5-15 games played with him that quickly falls off, but the spike is probably due to all the ELO you're losing by playing him, so you get matched with weaker opponents.

Did you know that Taliyah had a 32% winrate when released?

Ivern is still new and people don't know that best way to build him yet. I doubt a single person has actually even played over 125 games with him, especially since the graph just says its the same as the average when in reality you are bound to get better the more you play a champ regardless of is their bad or not and in turn win more games. Also if the graph only spikes in win rate for the reason you said then it would keep going up and down over and over again but it doesn't, It defaults to average.

Bard was buffed significantly before he became even viable. Not sure about Taliyah; I think that was because no one knew how to use her W before it got changed to vector cast (which ironically made it weaker).

As for Ivern, give him some time. If you paid any attention to op.gg's stats, you'll notice that his 40% win rate is diluted by a terrible win rate in an off-role (support). His jungle win rate is 46.77%, which is rather low but at least acceptable for a champion that was just released this patch. Champion.gg cites a 48.14% win rate for his jungle (and an abysmal 26.19% win rate for support) with an average games played of 4.14, which is pretty good for a champion so complex on the macro level that it changes the way players play the game.

Ivern is sitting at a 48% winrate right now, thats not bad. People just don't now how to play him. He is a support jungler like nunu. His kit is pretty good once you get to know how to use it properly.

I didn't realize her win rate was that low but I do recall it being very low.

Ivern does look and appear pretty useless though. I think his win rate will climb as people figure out how to play him, but he appears to be more of a "support jungler" but people are still building damage on him and no tank. I think people are just building poorly for his kit. In another month I bet you his win rate will be about 45%

Because something that was never done before (a support jungler) and completely new should have a high winrate when it's released k

Ivern suffers from what I'm calling the Bard effect. He is an extremely unique champion with minimal damage and tankiness in his kit. Due to this most players with little experience cannot possibly hope to be effective with him. At the same rate his numbers are somewhat low causing him to be less effective than others when he knows what he is doing. He'll eventually receive enough numerical buffs that will allow him to become a huge part of the meta.

ivern is decent as a jgl or support if you have team coordination, otherwise in solo q he sucks

Hrd2H1t11/2/2016, 9:48:05 PM1 votes

The problem is just that most people try to build him full AP or tank, but really hes a second support. He has a unique playstyle that most of the playerbase refuses to acknowledge.

And î oop11/17/2017, 9:04:03 AM1 votes

ivern is a support jungler, unique and one of a kind which is amazing but that makes him depend on the team so if the team is bad he falls flat and in ranked teams are really to often bad ( especially in bronze and a bit in silver ) but i do agree that he could use a small buff and i think that is to return his previous ap scale for daisy, since they nerfed her ap scale ap ivern died and now cant do anything vs his enemies and thats frustrating, i played him tons of times and enemy jungler would just invade and make me go running around like crazy at the break of death. When he could be played ap it was fine because if you were good you could duel someone with daisy and it made it really satisfying to win against someone who invaded your jungle :)

I realize this is 2-3 years ago, but he is still useless, he can't contest anything, can be invaded by anyone with a right click, can't hold himself with current champs being so damn mobile. He is just entirely useless, play Nunu if you want a support jungle, Ivern should be removed.

He's not a bad champ, he's just team reliant... For what he does, this trade off isn't all that bad.
