Just noticed, Aatrox's winrate isn't actually that low.

He's sitting at 49-51% winrate from various sites.

Hmm...

With a pathetic 0.79% - 1% pickrate, so the winrate is technically trash.

I'm doing pretty good with him ATM. The secret is that the "standard" build you will find in most guides/champion.gg is trash. He is very versatile now, especially with new Warlords, where you can skil Lifesteal items and go with AD/defensive items like Sterak/Maw/Titanic.

The sample size for his winrate is miniscule because he has a 0.80% pickrate.

He's actually a godlike splitpusher ever since the addition of the new tank masteries. Grasp of The Undying + Runic Armor + Lifesteal from Offense masteries + Doran's Blade + Lifesteal quints makes him absolutely impossible to push out of lane. When he trades, he'll lose at first but will creep ahead every time he procs Grasp. Once you fall back, auto a minion three times and you've gotten back 1/3 to 1/2 of your health, depending on if you procced the double heal on his W.

Items like Ravenous, Death's Dance and Spirit Visage for AP matchups all make him a nuisance that requires 2, sometimes even 3 people to kill.

He's still practically useless in teamfights unless he's steamrolling. I prefer him as a splitpusher, myself.

EDIT: This tactic was devised before the change to Warlord's.
