HP+AP vs Resistances+AD

Note: I'm not saying that AD is way better than AP, i'm just voicing a thought I had that considering itemization.

Just thinking out loud, if mages are supposed to have HP + AP items and AD based champions like marksmen get AD + Resistance items, isn't it heavily favored towards AD considering this item item 3036 exists?

Mages mostly have burst they could use to blow up the ADC, but what if the enemy Lucian builds item 3139 item 3814 item 3156?

I get that Lord Dominiks has to exist considering tanks are a thing and it's a completely valid reason to have it in the game. Not sure how I feel about the obvious disadvantage to having a decent amount of HP on (burst/DPS) mages though.

build item 3047 for boots and item 3110 for mana

then take 15 armor

47 scaling armor

there now u have resists too

Why would I need mana when I don't have mana problems? Why would I call it fair to be gated to item 3047 just because the enemy has AD based AAs while the enemy AD can just go full offense while also getting resists?

hmm maybe because it's fun watching that talon flail at you helplessly

if you want ap + armor + mana there still is item 3050

is it ideal? probably not but it's there the stats are ok the active is kinda garbage for most mages unless you got a dps mage

and you can downvote me for giving you options you can use vs AD but that wont help you ingame

we all know riot isnt gonna make Ad destruction Staff of doom with 100 armor and 100 ap and 1000 mana and 40% cdr just never going to happen and you know it so i suggest you work with what you have

See, this is a comment one can work with. But your first comment was less than helpful.

Because if mages and ADC were just the same champions but one has ap and the other has ad, it would be way less fun.

Its because AD has way more classes then AP(Only have 2 classes Mages and Slayers/Assassins). Its why there are more MR AD items then there are AP MR items. Also to be fair they nerfed lord Dominik's regard due to the reason you stated above earlier this year from 500 hp scaling to 1000 hp. Also Zhonyas hour glass and abyssal scepter are the resistance items for AP classes along with their health items. O and the AD Classes are basically (Fighters, slayers/Assassins, and marksmen) yes there are 3 classes but keep in mind all those classes are vastly different from each other. However AP Slayers/Assassins share same itemization as mages likely because there are so few of them and the mage/AP assassin play style have same goal is to burst a target.
