Why not give Boots of Swiftness the ability to ignore unit collision?

item 3009

At the moment, the only item with the ability to ignore unit collision is item 3046

And item 3046 isn't really a item a melee champ can buy...

Trundle with Phantom Dancer. Trolololol.

I honestly dont understand how the hell riot managed to make unit collision worse over the update.

Nope, can't have that happening. Our ADC Overlords are the only ones allowed to have an item which boost their MS while allowing them to kite melees through minion waves.

EDIT: Was being sarcastic...

Fiora Gangplank Irelia Jax MasterYi Nocturne Shaco Udyr Tryndamere Trundle Talon MonkeyKing XinZhao Yasuo Kayle

Nope. No melee champ can use PD.

EDIT: To clarify, can doesn't mean should. Yes I'm aware most of them prefer Shiv, but PD is an option if you value ignoring unit collision as OP clearly does. Or if you have S2 nostalgia.

Irelia Jax Udyr Trundle MonkeyKing XinZhao all kinda need to build tankier than a build involving a PD allows

Fiora Talon both are better served by building AD caster

Kayle pretty sure she's better AP... also she's borderline ranged

Gangplank Has no business with a PD when most of his lategame playstyle involves shooty shiv procs.

Shaco Tryndamere Yasuo Since Shiv procs can crit, they are better served by a shiv under ANY circumstance.

ShadowNinetails1 votes

Most GP's I see just get both since Shiv procs are a unique effect. Same can go for Shaco and Trynd. Yas less so because of his passive, but for someone that's willing to trade Shiv for ignoring unit collision (or for not accidentally setting off tower aggro), it isn't a terrible option. Not something I'd do myself, but it is an option.

Fully agree as far as optimal builds, but in non-standard builds all of them can use the aspd, crit, and ignored unit collision.

Talon being in that list blew my mind. Who the fuck builds PD on Talon?

ShadowNinetails2 votes

Someone valuing ignored unit collision to ask for a buff on boots hardly anyone uses, perhaps?

Rikari5 votes

80% of those champs already ignore unit collision with their gap closer 75% naturally don't use crits 50% are usually build tanky and kayle's E is on a short enough cooldown to be considered ranged.

ShadowNinetails1 votes

Ignoring unit collision with a gap closer != ignoring unit collision by walking. Ask any Fizz or Hecarim main how strong that is.

The only ones on that list I can find that don't spend a good chunk of time autoattacking or using spells with on-hit effects are Talon and...actually nvm he's the only one.

Tankiness I can't really argue against. More off-build than anything. Since Support Brand and Jungle Irelia are all the rage nowadays, I wonder if the next Dark Horse will be Galio. Not in any particular lane, just Galio in general.

This actually isn't a bad idea. +1

This would make me buy Boots of Swiftness more often. Right now it just feels like a very niche boot.

PhoenixSlayer133 votes

That might actually be a good idea... I'm worried about the balancing on it though. The movement speed might need to be decreased slightly.

Add "Ignore unit collision", increase price to 1100 to compensate?

Hullabaloo9073 votes

Swiftness boots are underrated as they are. Moving slightly faster than everyone else actually gives a pretty big advantage, plus you can almost always use the slow reduction, because its very rare for a game not to have a slow.

Reket DeAlk3 votes

Why not make it an enchantment for all boots? Just make it a lot pricier then other enchantments. Or add a level requirement like the trinket upgrades so it's a late game only kind of thing.

Depends on the melee champion. I frequently build it on Tryndamere.

But I agree, we need it on a bruiser item.

What the fuck is unit collision anyway? It says Hecarim and Fizz ignore it but minions still make them go around them.

item 3009

At the moment, the only item with the ability to ignore unit collision is item 3046

And item 3046 isn't really a item a melee champ can buy viably...

(fixed.) Is building Phantom Dancer and Statik Shiv on Yasuo viable?

Why not just make a new pair of boots that ignore unit collision, while keeping item 3009?

Because the thing is too cheap :|

Can I also have Rabadon bonus on Sorc boots? Would help all 62 casters.

junglerboy162 votes

The unit collision thing would obviously increase the price. Now... how to not have the upgrade cost 1200 straight gold...

yes please, please do it. finally a way to get rid of that godawful self slow on my spin. would actually make these puppys worth buying.

We all know that the one of the few champions who could use these boots are:Udyr with Juggernaut enchant on his jungle item, good luck trying to slow him down while he's in bear stance XP

In other words OP wants to enable UDyr to charge at you at wrap speed while ignoring unit collision and murder you? No thanks.

What is wrap speed?

Well, that is what bears and tigers (idk about phoenixes) usually do when you see one.

Guineasaurus Rex1 votes

maybe give the boots an active that temporarily ignores unit collision. much like the phase boots in the old dota (never played dota 2 so don't know if they're still in game)

CataclysmCrash1 votes

Nope because Hecarim already has that and even he only builds boots of swift when he's snowballing early.

NewGrange1 votes

make it happen.

If I need extra firepower and dueling ability as a melee carry, I would get PD over SS. If I get stuck in the split pushing role because League is fixated on the ADC being a ranged champion, I would get SS over PD.

Since my choice is normally determined by the meta humping community, you should know that I have to get SS even with a 25/6/X Master Yi.

:D

BakugoBestBoy1 votes

Because they would need to increase the cost significantly. You shouldn't be able to buy Hec Passive/Fizz Passive/Bear Stance/PD Passive for only 1000 gold. It's pretty insulting to those champs.

But here's a secret, FK unit collision, should just be removed from the game. Can't tell how many times unit collision has saved my enemies/fked me.
