Is it boring?

playing thresh or bor blitz or maybee even bard can be kind of fun

supports deff do have playmaking options and can legit change thee outcome of games with clutch cc or plays

so whats the issue why does no one play it?

do u people just prefer doing dmg and killing things?

Ding ding ding ding ding. People like to be the one on top of the scoreboard/charts and being announced in game for a killstreak. This has always been the case and always will be regardless of the game. People that are content/enjoy being the underpowered supporting class/role are much fewer and there's nothing to be done about that because people love attention and recognition (and just blowing shit up).

I would say it is part of it but there is another side. Riot has stated that damage is and must be grater than everything else. Well if damage is greater than everything else playing something that does not kill things is lesser than everything else also.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Unless you are Thresh or Blitz and you get the those hooks and get those kills. But in that case... you get joy for seeing those fall and die after the hook. You basically become Thresh and become Sadistic and glad when a hook gets kills.

PEOPLE ASSOCIATE KILLS AND DAMAGE AS CARRYING AND DONT FEEL A SUPPORT CAN CARRY A GAME. WHICH IS WRONG... A GOOD SUPPORT CAN MAKE AN 0-4 ADC WIN AND CARRY A GAME AND A BAD SUPPORT CAN MAKE A GREAT ADC LOOK LIKE TRASH.

I WAS PLAYING A GAME AS GALIO SUPPORT AND MY ADC VAYNE TRIED OVER AND OVER TO 1 VS 1 A DRAVEN EARLY AND GO HAM SHE WENT 0-4 I CLEANED UP AND WENT 3-0-1 AND I TURNED THAT INTO WINNING THE GAME AND ALLOWING HER TO CARRY WITH CLUTCH ULTS ON HER CONDEMS INTO WALLS AND ECT

END OF GAME I WAS 5-3-21 AS GALIO AND SHE WENT FROM 0-4 IN THE 1ST 6MINS OF GAME TO 17-10-10 AND EVEN THE ENEMY ADC AND TEAM GAVE ME PROPS FOR CARRYING THE GAME FOR MY TEAM.

hey man making your posts in caps lock makes them hard to read. i would suggest not doing that for the sake of everyone else trying to read it.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

HOW DOES IT MAKE IT HARD TO READ?

PLZ EXPLAIN THAT.

OH BTW ALL OF OUR NAMES ARE IN ALL CAPS AND THAT IS THE BOARDS DOING IT... BUT YOU CAN READ MY NAME JUST FINE

Ruin Lance3 votes

what? your name seems punctuated and not in caps lock to me

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

The letters are capitalized but they have size differences to distinguish between a upper case and lower case. Like O and o, W and w, or X and x. The font is technically capitalized.

Ruin Lance1 votes

no to me it just looks normal, not capitalized except where necessary.

boring, no impact, forced to rely on ur team, gets all the rage for losing most of the time

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I disagree. Boring, little impact, forced to heavily rely on your team, gets all the rage from your marksmen for losing most of the time.

Its the role that makes you feel like you can't do anything by yourself. You have to rely on your ADC in lane which you don't know, and learn how they play and their play style during the lane phase. During the mid/late game you have to sit next to your carry to keep them alive because you don't do any damage (unless you are a mage support/kill lane), you can't really buy any items for yourself and it all goes into item 2049 and the support/utility items.

Everything bad that happens is usually your fault and even though everyone has free wards people expect you to be the only one warding. Personally, I only like to play support if I'm with the ADC in curse or something. I don't care about dealing damage or getting kills because I generally like to play tanks, but I just would rather be in a lane/role that does not have to rely on another person during the lane phase.

i feel like all of this is false

in lane supports decide who win adcs just there to farm idk why supports always scared to go in adc dont have the cc to start a fight yah we can poke but we cant actually choose when to fight.

and supports are always building dmg now Zyra Sona Brand Annie

Buts that the problem, you don't know if your ADC will really follow up on you all the time because you are relying on people you don't know. Some people would prefer to not fight and just play safe, farm and survive until the mid game team fights. If the support didn't catch that from their carry, they might jump in or force a fight when the Carry wasn't ready and might give the enemy the advantage. Yes in those situation it's both parties fault, the carry for not telling the support to play passive and the support for going in when the carry was obviously not ready but in most cases the supports would be blamed. Which also goes with the whole accidentally taking a CS, or securing a kill when you don't know the ADC can get it could easily yelled at by the carry.

Another reason I could see is since bot lane is usually where the most ganks/roams would happen. Often times the enemy jungler + mid lane might come bot for a gank or dive, and even top lane some times thanks to summoner 12 since they want to get their ADC fed because they snowball usually the hardest (so some mages/tanks prob snowball harder).

Also on your list the only person who is actually a support is Sona. Yes the "supports" are building damage now because they aren't actually supports but mages being put in the support role to be a kill lane Brand Zyra Annie

  1. Nice catch on that Sona bit. Sona is the only Primary Supporting champion that actual can deal tons of damage. All the others are... Riot claimed Secondary Supporting champions-- There is a difference between Lux, Orianna, Morgana or Karma Secondary Supports versus Brand, Zyra or Annie... protecting ally aside from cc (Shielding).

  2. You are correct on that followed up bit. I have played as Thresh and tried to get my marksmen kills but they did not follow up and I died to them. Just that once. And with that, all the hate. On the other hand, when I play passively, I get criticized for doing nothing and get reported. That is why I have moved to Zyra, a bit safer and I do not need to communicate with marksmen.

  3. I have secured kills when I did not if my marksmen could get the kill and got all the hate... All the hate.

Everything you said--- is so true. Up Vote for you.

There's a gazillion threads about it. Try reading some, there's a lot of opinions about it.

I've had four games where enemy jungler and mid lane wiped us and one where even top came to say hi. Team blames us for feeding when they are up top side.

OurLestrade1 votes

I find CC more satisfying than damage myself, but generally people prefer the immediate impact of damage. It doesn't help how most CC nowadays, especially for supports, is super dellayed which really hampers the enjoyment factor. I for one find the Taric Rework really unfun simply because of all the delays in his kit - no immediate satisfaction to any of your actions.

ViiLLAiN1 votes

u dont get satisfied when ur a team full of divers with a taric and one sick ult just rapes everyone

OurLestrade1 votes

Very specific set of factors lead to a situation like that, and even then the actual feeling has less impact than say a big badass engage ult or something like that :P

SugarRayMoe1 votes

Well, instead of writing stupid posts about how funny is to play support (when it is actually a role that suxs balls HARD), you could actually play them.

Oh... wait! you mean US to play support because it's funny, but NOT YOU because you prefer other roles.

Ok, I understand.

The problem is that people like to be aggressive dickheads that want a champion that can diss out some good damage and don't ever think about strategy or being a wingman to other players, even more so when you have to deal with that mentality. look low level players are either a bunch of pussies that don't back you up when you get threat on ya, or they will be too kill hungry to know when back off and defend a bit. personally I'm saying this with a pinch of salt because it's someone that people need to get into their thick skulls if they want to play better or if failed as support.

Being a support allows you to control the battle and deny numbnuts that focus too much on killing and damage their CD's while you and your team can deliver a vicious counter or you can make some sweet saves and plays. Be it by tankiness(Braum ,Taric ) damage(Zyra ,Annie ) or by utility and healing (Karma,Janna )

Personally idiots are more attractive to the non-support role than players with the mind for skill and strategy and showing some interest in support is a strong hint that you are ahead of the curve.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Could you go into deeper depth of the difference between your tank, damage and utility support? (I just want this because I like your description and of this post. I know the difference but...)

Here is my question-- is there a difference between a Zyra/Annie Support versus a Brand/Vel'Koz Support? Both deal damage but their protection is just as low as their one cc. (I play Zyra support and saved my marksmen by using my ult knockup and e snare to stall for time so I am aware of how it saves... but utility supports are still better at it-- Janna.) So I lost as how their is a difference... other than the Zyra is in the Meta.

Oh and another question: Are supports limited to bi in the vicinity of their marksmen or some other ally? You post makes it sound like they should always be near by. I mean-- when I play Thresh Support, I know I cannot solo anything and getting caught out means death but for damage dealers... are they still limited?

Just asking questions. You seem to be a person who can give an actual answer to my questions.

DragonShea1 votes

Well what I meant to say in regards to them was that they were more agressive Supports so if people were lazy they could just take one of them instead so that they could feel more like a "combat support"

And as for the different types of supports well

Tank:Braum Leona Taric(healing/shield Hybrid)Thresh Blitzcrank Alistar

Healer/shield: Janna Sona Soraka Karma (damage hybrid)Bard

Damage:Morgana (shield hybrid) Velkoz Annie Zyra

Annnnnnnnnd the list does on.

But in all fairness damage Supports can either be hard hitters or zones that keep others from going ham at the risk of dying before doing any meaningful damage.

And as for Damage(supports?) well damage supports they are better at the mid game because they got the damage to protect themselves to but they can't influence the battlefield as well, Zyra and morgana are the best out of the two as vel'koz and brand are more about scattering people in fear of their damage while the latter can at least hinder the movements of the enemy team to set up kills.

Because no matter what you are under leveled, and level advantage is huge in this game in terms of power.

For example, right now jungles are really strong because you can get an easy early lvl advantage and the jungle is giving a lot of xp. Riot has commented on this already and will probably be making changes to it.

Being two levels down to the entire team by mid game even when you are doing well isn't fun.

I personally don't mind playing support now and then. It is a lot better than it use to be.

Personally I think they should increase the xp gained when sharing a lane. There is no reason for bot lane to always be down in levels. And it would make the mass bot lane tower dives a little more difficult.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I understand where you are coming from, but remember that if the exp share gets too high, then we will see more, say, assassins supp. They can just get free levels and get the kills and be a threatening force later in the game. Just adding in.

Ethan Allen1 votes

The problem with people playing those champs means that they (generally) will fall behind because they are not adept at the champion, so therefore they will feed and have no fun. When people get autofilled to support first they should ask if there is someone willing to play it. If not just play Janna or Nami . These champions take little skill to perform decently on. You just press buttons on your ad and let you ADC do their job. Also. If you do choose to pick the "fun" champs, you should at least look up a build ( NO MORE item 3068 + item 3117 ON SUPPORTS PLZ) If you don't look up a build you should just build the broken support items that Riot has generously given us. E.g. item 3190 , item 3107 , item 3109 PLEASE AT LEAST BUILD item 2049 (item 2303 , item 2301 , item 2302 ) AND item 3341 Don't forget to Upgrade your trinket to item 3364 [slayer-jinx-catface]

Athenes Lulu1 votes

Nah people just want the spotlight. Supporting doesn't give them enough spotlight.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Well that and they get under leveled and under gold as heck.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

More like people don't want play with these conditions, or learn to handle games with less gold and exp.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Fair enough. Especially if people one trick or only know one lane. Get a Zed Support is hard to support with. He also isn't as bursty as he would be in mid (or top) and tends to feed a bot more because he can't finish off enemies.
