I think its less that we should have the game aim for us and more that dash skills need to be fairly easy and quick to use. Take Jarvan for example: he has a multi-ability cast like Azir, but you don't have to aim right on his flag in order to so--just put your mouse near it, cast Q and his Spear hits it. Imagine if you had to have your cursor right over the flag, perhaps in the midst of a teamfight..suddenly the escape/CC becomes much less effective because its difficult to use. Not intuitively difficult either, just difficult because you have to wrestle with the controls.
Controls are extremely important in every video game, even ones meant to challenge the player. You want players to come up with strategies on how to beat your game with fair rules and effective controls. A game that is hard because it is hard to control is not good. [Ok, controls rant over]
Another thing--and I could be horribly misquoting a Rioter here--apparently there are some QoL improvements that could be made to the system which decides what to prioritize your click selects. I really don't know anything about how these things work, but it might be another instance where this game system needs to be improved across the board. and Azir just happens to have a particularly difficult problem with it.
