Thornmail doesn't really feel "thorny" anymore.

The most reflective damage I've gotten with it is about 40 per hit, not even factoring in the magic resist an enemy champion has. You also have the 15% auto attack slow whenever someone hits, which pretty much defeats the whole purpose of reflecting damage onto a player, when they just attack you slower. Like, I love the whole idea on afflicting someone with grievous wounds when they attack you, but I just feel like we need a whole new item for that, it doesn't fit in with Thornmail at all. Thornmail was designed to be an item that punished range auto attackers. Yes, you can argue that it does with the GW, it just doesn't fit with the item. You're trying to combine 3 items into one and it just looks bad.
