i'm not playing aphelios... but half of my normal games are dodges, because people want to play the new champ, and he is frequently banned.
It would be great if new champs had a 1-2 week ban protection in normals. seems like it would let everyone enjoy the champ more.. and afterall, it's just normals.
of course bans would still be allowed in ranked.
You identified the issue as people banning the new champs but the actual issue is people not getting to play the new champs. Your proposal wouldn't fix the issue except in a small margin of cases; like, if we hypothetically assumed only 1 out of the 10 players that are matched together will want to play the new stuff, I wouldn't know the % of such an occurrence but I imagine it's pretty low and these are the only cases your suggestion would fix. Also as a side note this change would be null in cases where 0 players want to play the new champ. Now if we assume only 2 people from 10 want to play the new stuff that's already a 50% chance of not getting to play it and it only goes up from there and while it doesn't mean every single one of them will leave each time they won't get the new champ the take away is in most cases people would still not get to play the champ and they would still dodge even if admittedly ever so slightly less but insignificantly less nonetheless.
