Tips on how to teamfight as Ryze.

I tried out Ryze. (I'm used to the older one.)

I found him both powerful but a little confusing at the same time. In duels I found him easy to understand.

But in team fights it's a whole different story.

  • Should I throw in my e>w>q at a cluster of champs?
  • Should I act defensively due to the combo nature of Ryze?
  • Should I poke the crap out of them while avoiding being melted.
  • How reckless should I be?
  • Where should I TP if I'm far away.
  • Should I keep TP if I'm in danger or use it to set up?

He isn't like Lux or Annie who have a easier idea on what their capable of. Lux : Keep distance, use snares to catch squish. Nuke them with the R. Annie : Rush in when needed, prepare your stun. Nuke them with the Tibbers. Ryze : Uh.. root? Um.. Q the squish.... uhhhhhh.

Position like an ADC and play like an ADC. Your job isn't ever to engage, or do anything except put out insane damage. The best you can do is catch a target out with your root. But walking up a lot of the time results in death so you always wanna be kinda late to fight. Also item 3116 makes it a lot easier to play.

Ryze is a battlemage. His job is to pound the enemy frontline with spells until they die.

Q>E>Q>W>Q>E>Q. And they're dead.

If you need peel, ditch a Q for an empowered W. Phase Rush helps with this, too.

Your TP isn't for teamfights, it's for roaming. Pull your jungler in, kill your laner, then teleport the both of you to gank another lane. Don't use it to engage, use it to clean up after a teamfight to stagger kills, or get your team to the objective (you were fighting for an objective, right?). Only for emergency contests of a dragon or Baron should you TP into a fight.
