What to do against sona ashe?

Qweebee·1/13/2015, 3:36:15 AM·3 votes·3,813 views

So I played a game against a sona-ashe combo with jinx(me) and janna. At first I tried to go agressive, but that obviously didnt work out, as they just poke me to death if I step close. What would be the possibilities for me to win my lane?

Poke her with my rocket when she goes for a cs? (then she can still w me and possibly auto).

I'm just drawing blanks. Now, i'm not good, so if there is an obvious answer, please don't be to harsh. Thanks!

Is this a thread about Sona being strong?

you can afford to tank a couple shots if janna shields you and tornado's one of them. You should come out ahead in trades but you have to rely on Janna.

Sona has a very favorable matchup against Janna. The general solution to Sona is to go kill her, but Janna isn't really for that.

The ADCs don't matter as much as the supports, but Jinx is generally favored over Ashe.

Your ideal play is for Janna to shield you as you launch your first rocket, then trade a bit until shield goes down. Repeat until lane is won.

Their ideal play is Sona AA-Q-AA plus Ashe Volley+AA, which can easily take 50% of your health if it all lands. Gotta position to avoid getting Volleyed in this matchup; remember it has a long cooldown and Ashe has nothing when it's down.

Jinx has poor laning and Janna is meant as a passive support for disengage. Ashe has longer range and better harass. Unless you're more skilled, you'd be better off focusing mainly on farm and only poke with Fishbones when safe and have mana to spare. It matches Ashe's auto-range at rank 1 and begins outranging her with more ranks. Jinx is a hyper carry, her strength lies later in the match and she'll outscale Ashe hard.

As for Sona vs Janna... Sona used to be seen as a counter back in season 3. Technically, a sustain support counters disengage supports, but Sona has been nerfed so hard on July 30th that the matchup becomes extremely questionable. Sona has less damage, less mitigation, less mobility and less CC, but still has higher AA range and a heal, albeit the shittiest and most expensive heal in the entire game. Optimistically, I'd call this a skill match-up, but Janna is incomparably more valuable to her team as a whole. Assuming the ADCs were on-par, the Janna side has the 2v2 advantage.

item 3139 rush this and activate it once they try to stun combo you

Umm..

Janna shield, proceed to steam roll as Ashe and Sona are two of the weakest early game champs. And their late game is fairly weak to. Compared to other ADC/Supports.

is there any way to deal with sona+ashe as twitch+annie? twitch's lack of poke skills require taking minion aggro while sona and ashe can use skills to poke.

Hug tower until you get BF Sword+Pick axe. Last hit with Q so you don't lose any CS. Don't bother harassing them much, Sona will just heal it. It's a waste of mana. Once you've got your items, you will out damage Ashe. Just be careful of their double stun ults. Don't just straight up engage them, try to bait them into wasting ults. Don't ever ask your jungler to gank them post-6, because he'll just get double ulted.

Relax, just farm up and out scale her, Ashe may have good up time for her damage output but it doesn't compete with AOE crit strikes, alternatively use grenades when trading, Ashe has no option other than walk around them, during which time you can poke her, janna should be able to disengage an Ashe fairly easily.

It takes practice and experience, before you can gauge whether or not it's possible to challenge them early game.

Even though I don't always do it myself, sometimes it is just best to play defensively until your jungler can make it a 3v2.

You don't always have to win lane. The sooner you realize that the better things will go for you.

A few things to remember about Ashe are her W cd is like 10-15 seconds early game. So if she hits you with her arrows she can't do it for a while. Stand behind minions to block her arrows. She also has 600 range, so poking her with rockets might be negligible since you have about the same range.

With a Janna+Jinx, there's not much you can do. They'll both poke you down, and can easily kill/zone you with just that.

Be super-aggressive before they hit 6. CC-lock them with your knockup+Chompers, and use Janna's shield to focus down Ashe. Keep track of their CDs and punish them for it, but don't overextend without knowing their summoners are down. Push them into tower if their jungler isn't going to give too much trouble, because their wave clear is inferior to yours and they'll have to spend mana just to stay in lane and not lose CS.

After they're 6, their CC-lock is better than yours, so just make smart trades and pop them with your ultimate after a while. Get help to push down the tower and just roam somewhere else afterwards.
