I finally did it. I had to turn off pings.

Too many times during a teamfight, I'd be waiting on cooldowns, when a dead teammate or someone who isn't even there begins spam pinging someone who is at 50% life - my immediate thought is that it's the guy who is nearby and low but has CDs, but it isn't, it's the rager who got blown up and doesn't care I don't have any CDs or mana, and I get killed, followed of course by "?" pings from the same guy, more often than not a Yasuo main.

Or just the constant "?"s in general from the thousands of toxic, crappy players in low elo. People use pings to be toxic and rage far more often than to ping anything useful or strategic.

Between that and an automatic /mute all at the beginning of every single game, it's actually greatly improved my gameplay, and maybe I'll get to an elo where people stop pressing random shiny buttons because they make funny noises and filling chat with as much flaming and racial slurs as possible.

I encounter these special cupcakes on a daily basis. But I cannot afford to completely mute the ping volume because not every player spams them uselessly.

I merely reduce the ping volume to a tolerable level even when I have some egotistic player who thinks I'm the bad guy for not going all suicide right along beside them.

What these players fail to understand is that spamming pings just to vent their frustration onto their allies does nothing but hurt their chances for victory. I am not the enemy of my allies, but it irritates me to no end that some players treat me and each other as such.

It's why I choose to mute my allies.

It makes it easy to pretend the people on my team have some semblance of respect for one another.
