@Riot what is the reason for wards not having a dedicated slot?

@anyone on the dev/game balance team,

I'm wondering what the reason for there still not being a specific slot for wards is. The trinket does not generally count because most teams will have sweepers/CV trinket. A late game, 6 item team, will only have access to the sightstone wards, which again pushes the role of map vision on to one of five of the members. This is counter intuitive to the vision changes as a whole, where in S3 you wanted vision to be a team responsibility issue, rather than a support responsibility one.

Question is, do you feel vision is fine as it is and you don't need to make any further changes or is this something you are looking to refine still?

Thanks,

Esso item 2044

Because then any team that was ahead (let's say full build vs 5.5 item build) could cover the entire map in wards while the behind team either delays finishing important items even longer when behind to ward or misses out on wards.

I think we don't have a dedicated ward spot to eliminate "free vision". The most simple example i can give is when a champion has 6 items already. If there was a dedicated ward spot you could but an unlimited amount of wards for basically no risk/cost. You aren't sacrificing stats in the form of an item for 3 minutes of Intel that could be worth more than 300 gold or wining a game.

They didn't make the changes so that it's more a team responsibility rather than they changed vision to something you had to sacrifice more evenly to achieve.

because it's a strategy game, you're supposed to have to make decisions.

set it so that a dedicated ward slot is unlocked at level 18? That way everyone can still ward after the have a full build.

Maybe when all of a player's items either cost more than 2000 gold OR are tier 3 or higher.

The OR statement in that allows for both items like Ruby Sightstone that is a cheap tier 3 as well as core tier 2 items like Abyssal Scepter. There are no tier 2 items that cost less than 2000 gold that cannot be upgraded (now with the removal of Executioner's Calling).

Boots and jungle items, once enchanted, will count as tier 3 and thus will trigger the ward slot.

I vote no. Later game the whole mini map would be a Christmas tree. No fun in that.
