How To get S - Rank on a tank?

Soo, i've been playing Leona for a while. i've gotten her to mastery level 6 and.. its just stuck. i get 'you gotta do well' but.. well going 2/1/32 and only getting an A+ is just soulcrushing. i'm doing my job well, my average self-mitigated damage is usually around 35k - 40k. but it feels like none of that matters, and that the only things counting for Ratings is kills/objectives/cs.. which, if you didnt know, leona's piss-poor at in cs unless you've got your relic shield charges.

Soo what im asking.. how does one get S's on Tanks even when doing it perfectly only nets an S- ?

The system doesn't look at important stats like how much damage you mitigate or how much you heal your ADC or CC the enemy team. It looks at KDA, and ward placement. Place a bunch of control wards, AND get a good KDA, and you'll get an S almost certainly.

To build on this, consider taking Banner of Command early. If you place Promoted Siege minions correctly you can rack up your CS and gold which helps significantly.

And since everyone screams about how bad it is, my advice is to take it against an AP heavy team so you can justify it. But I can't emphasize "early" enough. Come the mid game it's typically not great.

I found that to S rank certain champs I had to spend time doing things that aren't normal behavior. Specifically, making sure I had at least 100 CS while playing supp and learning how to ward my ass off.

And, of course, there's the part of it where you're compared to other people playing the champ. I pull S ranks with worse pure stat lines on Soraka than on Sona because Sona can create more impressive stat lines. To get an S on Leona, you're trying to outdo the games where people go off with her, which is kinda tough.
