just because i take summoner 3 doesn't mean i am support

Its a common summoner spell taken for top lane. You need to communicate to the rest of your team that your going mid...Sooner you realize that then the sooner people will quit looking at you like your brain dead...

I think his problem is that he calls mid, and since he has teleport they ignore is actual call.

SolidPooh9 votes

I figure taking TP mid is great, and have been doing so for months.

it allows you to go home at almost any time and return quick for that valuable exp and CS. also if a mistake happens or a gank is near successful on yourself, you can home and back very quickly.

being such a huge responsibility in mid, I feel TP provides security for the entire team early game as opposed to just yourself as ignite may do.

There are tons of scenarios where multiple TP's on a team can benefit. for example: your team is pushed to the base and enough damage is done to call off an enemy attack, or perhaps a few kills were made in your teams favor.

while the pressure is feigning, you can easily reposition or split push with multiples or alone.

Push bot lane, see the enemy team is responding in full and you are trapped, TP top.

I'm a firm believer of TP on mid, as long as your early game is patient and precise.

I'd like to thank all midlaners that take TP instead of ignite...I love to snowball, how did you know?...

SolidPooh3 votes

Methodical attempts to learn personal and effective playstyles in the game lol

I forgot to mention the collapse potential you have on other lanes!

in my eyes the only reason to not take TP mid is if you are an overaggressive and careless mid?

FooDang2 votes

You'll eventually realize why everyone usually takes ignite mid...your not at that level yet where there's pre 6 kill potential and your TP...thats for you to get back in your lane after you respawn...

SolidPooh3 votes

I've been using TP for many many scenarios, I feel ignite is a good personal early game tool, while TP is an all game round team tool.

with a calm approach it has the ability to enforce a lead or cut out on wasted travel time (time not earning xp or gold) which yes, does translate into returning to lane after a death as well.

I try to avoid the latter, with awareness of my loss of ignite

There's plenty of good Champions, and reasons, to take TP instead of ignite. If you're playing a non-aggressive mid, or one that likes to roam and apply more pressure in other lanes, it works great. I almost always run it whenever I play Morgana mid, since I'm going to be focused on shoving mid lane and roaming to other lanes to get my kills.

Ok Gold 4 (Not impressed)...do you even mid?...Wow this guy spams Udyr and Garen...I'm guessing not...did T2g teach you how to climb the ranks with cheese?...now you feel all good inside because your Gold?...seriously Don't post unless you know what you're talking about...lol...Udyr and Garen...I'm still chuckling...

JevelFaithful4 votes

Please don't post unless you can have a real discussion. Ty.

Yes that's an unranked scum who mostly has vsAI in his match history that's telling you this.

FooDang3 votes

I was discussing till this guy brings up rank...mind your own business...mmmmmmk....

Git Gudyr3 votes

I didn't bring up your rank until you claimed that he didn't take ignite because he wasn't "at your level". Your level implying rank. Your rank being... Silver.

JevelFaithful1 votes

I know I was in a foul mood when I wrote this and I was more attacking than necessary. But the way you worded your first message implied an attack on him. You probably didn't intended it that way.

Anyway, taking tp might not be the optimal strategy for the lower end of the ranking (which probably is 70% of the ranking), but at least there is valid reasoning for it. You could also say that if at that level (aka bellow high Diamond), you're better to pick a champ/Summoner that you feel more comfortable with than the theoretical optimal strategy. If your playstyle doesn't lead you to use ignite as much as tp, then use tp. (At least that's the feeling I got from the forums and friends and just competitive gaming in general)

Edit :By the way, (as of now) NervousVirgin's first message (In this conversation) doesn't mention rank at all. Dunno if that was edited but it looks like you shot first.

Np... I'm kind of an ass so it was probably well founded...and he edited the quote by me...

I prefer jungling in Solo Q because it has more of a global impact, and I like to focus on objectives rather than snowballing, as it is a safer and more effective way to close out games and climb.

Even being a jungle main, I still played more games in Mid at a higher elo than you in Season 3 and Preseason, mostly Talon (who I ran ignite with and was considered trash tier) and Morgana (TP mid). I actually hit Gold in preseason with jungle/support Leona, not Udyr or Garen, but switched almost primarily to Udyr to climb to Plat before Season 4 started because the new jungle messes Leona up fierce, and Udyr is versatile and easy to use to to win games. It took me 25 games to get from Silver and bad placements to Gold, and I've not played seriously since. Even then, still winning games while not practicing or trying hard to climb.

Maybe if you stopped trying to snowball and "stomp" your lane and developed better knowledge of the game as a whole you could climb as well. You don't have to be mechanically great to hit Gold or Plat, as long as you know what to do to win games.

My initial point was, at Silver II, which is hardly "at that level", you're in no position to tell someone how they can't play a role. They can take Teleport as a mid laner all they like, and in some cases it's a great choice, even better than Ignite.

Don't post unless you know what you're talking about.

FooDang1 votes

I don't need your whole resume...it looks like your a t2g player and thus all the stereotypes are already in place...I try and stomp my lane and then roam...I don't need TP...it sounds like your trying to say TP>ignite in mid everytime...is that what you're telling me?..

Yup that is totally what I said. Reading comprehension is hard.

I Summons I4 votes

Ok Diamond 4; tp is better than ignite in certain situations...don't use your elo to justify your opinion.

FooDang2 votes

I've taken TP mid before on certain champs...I stated that...I was trying to show value of ignite to a someone who runs TP...I have a friend that refuses to run ignite...it's heal or TP...its a crutch and he loses majority of the time because he leans on the crutch and has low kill potential compared to the enemy...

Gavran2 votes

Ignite is the crutch bby. Most mids can win lane without it if you outplay. You just have to poke once or twice more before you all-in. I mean sure, on someone like Fizz, Syndra or Malzahar: if you aren't getting a kill every time your ult is up, you're doing it wrong, and ignite helps with that. But if you're taking ignite on Karthus, Lux, Xerath, Vel'Koz... you need to reconsider your choices.

MarthaJones2 votes

Pushing a lead is not a bad thing. having an extra 200+ damage opens up more opportunities to pick up kills. So does having teleport. they both have their uses and both can be more efficient in different situations, which are often very controllable.

many players don't like teleport in mid since they can already wave-clear and roam, and ignite just makes them more of a threat both in lane and on their roam. There are plenty of champs where teleport is very strong from mid, but to say that anyone who doesn't take teleport is overagressive and careless is simply stupid and makes you sound like you have limited knowledge of the game.

SolidPooh1 votes

Sorry Martha I think my wording brought you to a conclusion i didn't intend.

having an overaggressive playstyle isn't a bad thing, you have to take more risks in solo engagement than a player with TP normally would, and I should've used a more globally sound word than careless.

When I said careless I meant more pressured and exposed?

Just tried to sum it up in one word quickly. I see your point, and yes both are effective in their own light.

Just like music it's preference.

Kuroi864 votes

Mid laners that take TP aren't interested in trading with you, but looking for opportunities to roam via TP. I've seen it on Akali a few times.

Mawootad1 votes

Getting TP so that you can shop faster or so that you can show up to fights 4 seconds late is a massive waste of a summoner spell (if you actually use your TP solely to shop, please stop). You get TP when you don't need defensive summoners and can't do much with extra with offensive summoners and you tp'ing to a lane will actually turn around fights/kill people who are shoved up.

SolidPooh2 votes

I hope nobody would actually take TP solely to shop :s

Actually I honestly don't believe anyone is that daft.

JevelFaithful2 votes

You might be surprised, someone who hasn't given much thought in his playstyle is going to make those kind of mistakes (or blindly go for what the guide says).

I hope very few people actually use it solely to shop. It did save my tower a few times in toplane (after a death). Not a great way to use it, but it works.

Gavran1 votes

I have two friends that like to take TP a lot. One is like, the TP guy. He makes more plays with TP than with his champion's abilities. Having him in a solo lane on my team is awesome. The other guy teleports 1) to lane whenever it's off cooldown and he's based. 2) to wherever the creep wave is after laning.

Of course, there are a lot of other differences in skill between the two and the latter doesn't really care about being good or better, but there are definitely people who waste teleport.

JevelFaithful1 votes

Might I guess that your friend didn't really think about his gameplan and is just playing? He probably falls in the first category then : those who haven't given much tought to their gameplan.

From your post that's what I get.

Gavran2 votes

Mhm. Not that I've had conversations about it with him, but he seems like he just wants to throw abilities at things and stuff. Which is fine enough, it's not like he does Ranked or anything.

JevelFaithful1 votes

Hahaha. That wording alone is worth a +1!

Lucario56231 votes

Well it annoys me when people say that they took summoner 12 mid because "LCS people do it". LCS people do it because they are actually coordinated with each other. Most people that are doing soloq don't talk to their team about what they're doing, so it ends up being a waste of a summoner spell.

FantasySniper4 votes

Dude, if you take TP without clearly communicating your lane, they're going to think you're top.

If you said "mid" and took someone like Ahri, who isn't a meta top-laner (because a lot of mids are also top), and they still did it, then yeah, that's their fault.

switch at last second?

HandsomeStreamer3 votes

only in low elo do they not have reading comprehension nor read the champ select until they are done with their heartstone game. Mostly middle class white sheltered kids have this issue.

I love to take TP in mid lane, it is great for any solo lane. However, I am not a big fan of TP/FLASH, Much rather prefer the TP/Ignite/ or TP/Barrier.

SolidPooh2 votes

One of the style i need to adopt, flash has been useful for my melee mids.

practice makes perfect

Dryditch2 votes

I'm a big fan of going Ignite/TP for everything but jungle. And then it's Smite/TP. The late game playmaking potential of TP is just massive when you've got a team that's actively placing wards.

Sire Hippington3 votes

if u take tp and don't go top, simply write that u are mid. Most midlaners can be played top, and u normally have TP on the toplaner, which leads to the conclousion that a sololaner that doesn'T call mid usually goes top if he takes TP.

Raptamei2 votes

If you don't take ignite mid, then you're giving control of mid to the enemy team. You'll need teleport just to get back to lane after they kill you for the first time.

Trundle

Kuroi865 votes

You do realize many assassins don't win lane by besting their lane opponent, they win by roaming and getting fed so they can snowball.

BlazingSalvo2 votes

Same thing with Smite. Next season smite is the only way to buy the jungle items as a laner. :^) "Just because I took smite doesn't mean I'm jungle"

Imagine buying Skirmisher's Sabre in lane as Jax. :^) True damage burst every minute + a shield for trades. Upgrade to Slayer enchantment, the best attack speed item in the game (64% AS rofl). For only ~2400g.

I run TP/Flash on Katarina mid. The global presence is invaluable compared to a cheap ignite. It's actually what turned her around for me and let her carry me to Plat.

I also still trade a lot with my enemy mid laner even with TP, because I know I can easily get us both to back, buy+tp back into lane and shove it, then roam and snowball another lane while my opponent is running back and trying to cs what he can before the turret takes it all.

Then once lane phase is over... I can do whatever I want when TP is up, as I can always just go to my team and turn a fight. Not to mention, on Kat specifically, your goal is to go in last when the CC is blown and clean-up.. Well, being able to TP on the enemy or behind them as the engage my team is one of the best methods of aceing a team I have found on Kat.

Look at all these bronzies saying TP isn't a mid spell.

Llanite1 votes

You pick TP means you're going top unless said otherwise.

Yeah, when someone picks smite, it means theyre going jungle. I'm that brain dead.

TDeadFather1 votes

YES they're brain dead.

Usually when you have a high range mage, you want to be out of the range of your opponents but in the range of your spells (obviously). Usually, that range is larger tan the ignite range. So, you need to come closer to your enemy to ignite them, and if you are Xerath, Orianna, Lux, Syndra (maybe an exception) ,etc... You're going to be in a bad position against a fizz, katarina, talon, if you are in the range of their gap closers, you're pretty much dead. IN THAT CASE, better take TP, bully your lane opponent with your long range spells, and gank top/bot and snowball their lanes. A well farmed mage is way more useful than a non fed assassin IMO.

It's all about your gameplan/playstyle.

(Just in case, I don't play in NA, so this is just a smurf)
