Selecting a champion should prevent your own team from banning that champion

Yes, I have read and seen this topic downvoted before by the usual suspects. But hear me out.

The point of the ban system is to tailor the field. However, if a teammate has selected a champion, they are clearly wanting to play that champion. Perhaps you have a valid reason to not want a champion selected, even or especially on your team. But allowing us to use this against our own team does nothing but give trolls another tool to tilt their team.

Riot, we have enough toxicity in this game without giving such people one more way to destroy others' fun. Please consider doing something about this.

  1. That player might be very bad with that champion (some people look up teammates in champ select)
  2. That player might be picking a very bad champ right now.
  3. That player might be picking one of those champs that always feed when someone on my team has them.
  4. It's a pick/ban champ and they are last pick.
  5. They are first pick and they want to pick a champ that is too easily countered.
  6. That champ was just released or reworked recently and I don't trust it.
  7. 4 of us have a functional team comp they are drafting and the 5th person wants to pick something everyone knows won't work with it.
  8. They are picking a champ that needs to be built around and no one on the team is picking around that champ.
  9. I don't like a champ so much I should be free insta-ban it.

As you can see, there are plenty of valid reasons to ban out a teammate's champ.

I am 1-11 when a certain champ is on the other team....someone on my team hovers so i don't ban. Other team takes champion before my teammate get a pick or even worse, they change their mind and pick a different champion leaving it for the other team to pick.

I don't usually ban if a teammate select a champion, but i don't fault anyone that does. Not banning someone has burned me in the past.

I had forgotten what a positive and contributory community this game has. I'll just wait another 4 years before daring to post a suggestion again. Peace, trolls.
