Selecting a champion should prevent your own team from banning that champion

Yes, I have read and seen this topic downvoted before by the usual suspects. But hear me out.

The point of the ban system is to tailor the field. However, if a teammate has selected a champion, they are clearly wanting to play that champion. Perhaps you have a valid reason to not want a champion selected, even or especially on your team. But allowing us to use this against our own team does nothing but give trolls another tool to tilt their team.

Riot, we have enough toxicity in this game without giving such people one more way to destroy others' fun. Please consider doing something about this.

That player might be very bad with that champion (some people look up teammates in champ select)
That player might be picking a very bad champ right now.
That player might be picking one of those champs that always feed when someone on my team has them.
It's a pick/ban champ and they are last pick.
They are first pick and they want to pick a champ that is too easily countered.
That champ was just released or reworked recently and I don't trust it.
4 of us have a functional team comp they are drafting and the 5th person wants to pick something everyone knows won't work with it.
They are picking a champ that needs to be built around and no one on the team is picking around that champ.
I don't like a champ so much I should be free insta-ban it.

As you can see, there are plenty of valid reasons to ban out a teammate's champ.

It should not be your choice whether a person on your own team gets to preserve a champion in the pool. Having a sight-enabled veto of your own team's choices is nothing but troll food. You know that if you exercise that option, you've tilted them. You're making like you've used this before in some strategic sense, but for every time that happens, 9 other times somebody is just banning a champ because they think their teammate will be weak on that champ. I get the temptation, but in a game where mental state is everything, this is flat-out just a tool to troll your own team into a practically guaranteed loss.

I'd love to see the numbers from Riot on winrates of teams where a players exercises this nuclear option. I bet it's lower than almost any other correlation.

I don't care if it tilts them. He gave you valid examples of why people can and will continue banning champions even if they are something a teammate wants to play. If they get tilted just due to that then they would tilt the instant anything goes wrong in the game regardless. If it's not my choice for me to ban WHAT I WANT! it's also not their choice to get WHAT THEY WANT. Sorry but it works both ways. You are tilting me by picking something you shouldn't be picking that early/late into the game. See how it works both ways?

Half of his examples were pure feeling and caprice. He thinks person X will play champ Y poorly therefore screw you, I am banning and tilting you. If you have a reason to not want that champ, make your case. But no, I don't believe that a single person on your team should wield a veto of this sort.

In the end, we earn or pay for our champions. How about this, then. If a teammate bans your preselected champion, you can dodge with no penalty. That way everybody wins: you don't have to see that champ used, and the poor guy just trying to play a champion gets a chance to do so. Cap it at just once a day or so that this LP-free dodge is possible to prevent abuse.

Or make the ban of a champion that is selected by a person something that has to pass on a 3-1 vote. Again, it really should never be the case that you are given a tool to intentionally grief your teammates.

I don't care that we "earn or pay for our champions" that means nothing. It just shows how selfish of a person you are simple as that. How abo9ut this? you dodge after someone bans your champion you get triple the penalty? that way everybody actually wins

I am 1-11 when a certain champ is on the other team....someone on my team hovers so i don't ban. Other team takes champion before my teammate get a pick or even worse, they change their mind and pick a different champion leaving it for the other team to pick.

I don't usually ban if a teammate select a champion, but i don't fault anyone that does. Not banning someone has burned me in the past.
