So I made a new account and I've been leveling it to 30. Holy shit, is it miserable.

I have absolutely no problem playing with new players that just don't know the game very well yet. As a matter of fact, I enjoy sharing a lot of my knowledge with the newer players that join the game. However, literally since level 5 when I started playing against humans, probably 7 out of 10 people I've fought have been smurfs. Of those 7, you can easily tell 3-4 of them were permaban cases that have learned absolutely NOTHING from having accounts deleted. Talked to one guy that said he had 8 ACCOUNTS taken, and he still can't keep his fucking mouth shut and likes to go in to these matches and shit talk the VERY FEW new players this game actually has. I've had a lot of bad matches in Silver/Gold over the years, but holy fuck. I've never seen so many ragers, inters, people making racist and threatening remarks, role stealing, and just general negativity.

I'm 100% sure at this point that if I started playing this game today for the first time, I'd run for the hills after a couple hours of this bullshit at most. These matches really need some better regulation, I can handle getting shit talked, but I find it really unfair to these new players that are just trying champions they think look cool and getting made to feel awful about it by some colossal piece of shit that's been removed from the game 5 times over.

Just a mini rant I guess. Hope everyone's matches go well today.

Riot tries to match smurfs with other smurfs so a new player is less likely to encounter as many smurfs as you did

Gets even more miserable when you realize the good champs in every lane are 6300 and you need to buy them while buying rune pages and runes to fill them.

The new player onboarding for this game is one of the worst I've ever seen.

Ever.

They're doing such a good job with so many other aspects of the game... but, the onboarding? Dear LORD it's AWFUL.

Yeah I wouldn't wanna be a new player now because there is no tip in game that says in bold capital letters to MUTE EVERYONE IN GAME TO ENJOY THE GAME lol

That should seriously be a tip for newbies. LoL is the number 1 moba with the most toxic people so this is necessary.

Yeah, probably the game should do the Korean thing of requesting phone numbers when creating accounts.

I just love your name.

Perhaps accounts below level 10 should be permabanned at the slightest display of toxicity to show zero tolerance for those who create new accounts after a ban. And even if an actually new player gets banned that way, it's not a huge loss for them and zero loss for the game.

Toxicity should be more strictly punished at low levels. A warning should be given at the first report, and punishment should start at the next one. You can throw people in the rest of the moderation pit when they hit 20-25. The fact that someone who's toxic at the low level experience after being perma'd even can even get to level 30 is silly.

THIS IS BECAUSE YOU ARE A SMURF

This is really not that difficult to understand. Real new players do not have the same leveling experience as you; I certainly didn't when I started playing the game. Leveling an account as an experienced player is way different than leveling one as a new player, and this is intentional on Riot's part. The reason you see so many smurfs leveling your account is because Riot puts smurfs together. You're a fucking smurf, so it's gonna suck for you.

I wouldnt call silvers and bronzes smurfs. A plat 5 player , leveling a smurf account, i encountered so many so called smurfs, but none of them knew how to play at all.

Even back when I was new at the tail end of season 3 half the people I encountered were not only smurfs, but incredibly toxic. I'm new, and making newbies mistakes (like building item 3115 on Ashe ) and every comment I got when I made a mistake or "built wrong" was "holy shit how bad are you why would you do that?!" Not a single one of them even considered that maybe I was actually, y'know, new. My favorite though had to be when a guy playing Volibear threatened to anally rape me because I was doing poorly against, surprise, a bunch of smurfs.

The system that "puts smurfs against other smurfs so newbies don't run into them" is either a lie or just doesn't work. My bet is on it being a lie.

Riot needs to whip out the IP bans. Even though it's not a surefire way, it would definitely discourage a ton of people from trying to make another account and repeat their cycle of toxicity.

There is two pre 30 lobbies. Regular and Smurf.

If you just dominate your first 5 or so games you get moved into the Smurf lobby, if you then get dumpstered in your next 5 games you get moved back. The cycle will continue.

This was Riots way of trying to fix the problem, does it work? Not really but its better everyone playing in the same one. I remember reading a red post about it a couple years ago.

I agree with the OP. I'm Plat 5 and made an alt to try different positions, and because i'm leveling up I usually opt to support just to try to help noobies... it is horrible. I can't imagine that a new person would actually play this game more than like 4 times before quitting. The level of smurfing is unbearable. It's one thing to be like me, just trying to level an alt, and another thing to make an alt with the intent of stomping newbs. Its a really bad situation for the future of the game.

Oh, and literally every smurf is salty as fuck.

Permabans should only be reserved for accounts that script/boost.

To the toxic shitheads who can't stop flaming/inting/role stealing, just permanently block them from using chat and only allow them to use missing/neutral ping once every 10 seconds.
