I miss that group shield the inner towers had in S5. Why are we allowed 0 actual comeback mechanics?

At first I thought the turret shield and laser turrets were kinda broken, but then you see the alternative now watching tanks eat 30+ shots and there's no way that's healthier or more fun. Can we go back to a time of our bases having actual defenses at 20+minutes again please?

I always forget about the shield, but the lasers on the base towers were really cool, I'd love to have them back.

“0 Actual Comeback mechanics”

Catch up XP Global Kill bounty rewards

because 60 minute games, 30 minutes of which consisted of ziggs viktor and anivia clearing waves while everyone else on either team jerks off wasn't fun.

IKR, i miss that the defending side had actually better defense. It's already hard making a comeback when the enemy team has already better access to Baron and Drag. If towers offered a shield and were stronger, it would increase the value of taking Baron for a final push.

But noooo they thought it made games too long, because it's sooo much more FUN when every game is a steamroll stomp. /sarcasm off

Catchup exp is still in the game, I'm pretty sure, as are kill bounties and increased passive gold generation for the poorest players in each game. I'm fairly certain those all qualify as comeback mechanics.

Im not saying that the game isnt snowbally, but if you look at worlds atm, the amount of late game comebacks by teams when they get a 35-40 minute teamfight 4 man advantage or wipe and then win the game. Making towers stronger is something I can go for, giving people under towers more defenses isnt, especially late game.

If it was an outer turret mechanic to prevent early dives, but not a tier 2 or inhib turret mechanic. But making turrets stronger so that teams cant win off of a 40 second wipe after being down the whole game? that i can go for

Why are we allowed 0 actual comeback mechanics?

Why should negations of good choices be allowed? I hated the "comeback" mechanics of just turtling in prior seasons, which would shut down any of the consequences of my good choices in the early game, and gave "worse" players the options to stall the game until they just stat check me on the merit of both teams having full item builds.

Comebacks should be the result of good choices by the deficient team, not from game systems that give deficient teams mercy handicaps.

Because "Ugh this just lets you stall out games to get back into them. I want my advantage to mean something!"

Out of curiosity why do people think comebacks should always be an option? The team that gets the advantage early should always have a very high chance to win the game. And if your complaint about that is "but what about late game champs?" Should late game champs not come with the disadvantage of losing to early game champs snowballing the game? Comebacks should be rare, they should not be an every game thing while the enemy team is playing well.

Tanks never die chief, they merely regenerate to full HP with their warmogs 8 seconds later and come back for round two.

You're actually afforded two comeback mechanics. Shutdown gold and minions auto-pushing towards the team that is behind. Its just the team that is ahead can try to make a play and capitalize on their advantage now. Previously, the shield made it so that:

  1. Defending team was highly incentivised and empowered to turtle up under their towers and waveclear non-stop.

  2. Attacking team was highly discouraged to make any real push and instead focus solely on taking enemy jungle camps.

Basically, it encouraged both teams NOT to make plays and just led to games stalling out.

I would like it if the nexus was a giant crystal turret, so its at least somewhat useful.

Or perhaps the inhibiter or even the nexus turrets were like the twisted treeline turrets where the turret shoots faster.

Mostly due to Riot not wanting the meta to turn into "turtle for 20 mins and wait for comeback" i guess they wanted us to go out and make plays for the come back, but i do agree game is too snowbally right now.

THESuperStuntMan10/22/2017, 3:57:32 PM1 votes

I feel like you don't even understand the game in the meta we are in right now. If there were really 0 comeback mechanics, we would see everyone drafting winning lanes and snowballing. But season 7 has been almost solely tanks, enchanter supports, and hypercarry adc's for lategame teamfights. I understand it's not fun to lose when the enemy team just snowballs on you, but you can't just deny facts because you lost a couple games to some early game champs that snowballed and did their job right.
