Wait time for leaving queue on your first offense is ridiculous

I haven't left matchmaking in AT LEAST 6 months, and all of a sudden I get into matchmaking and BOOM. My League of Legends client goes dark with no sounds. Now I have a 6 minute timer before I can join queue again.

If I have been playing League of Legends for over a year, and I haven't left queue in more than a month, why the hell should I be punished for leaving queue? It is more than likely that it is a technical difficulty on their end than it is a problem on mine. 6 minutes doesn't matter to me, but ffs give some breathing room to your customers.
