Junglers are not supposed to win your lane for you

ok I have no problem ganking your lane earlier than i would like to if you give up an early kill but when people give up 3 kills in rapid succession before i hit level 4 and bitch at me when i dont gank it drives me crazy(im looking at you top lane)... do people really expect a level 4 Rengar with maybe a couple of long swords to successfully gank a level 6 or 7 Irelia who almost has omen... no just go sit under your tower and try not to feed more i'll be back later with when im a little strong(or have mid with me) so i dont just leap into a easy double

It's the jungler's job to manage objectives and aid their team. This means that they have to control buffs, dragon, baron, vision (through wards, raptor buff, and scuttle crabs), and aid the lanes as they deem necessary (either helping a losing lane or snowballing a winning one).

It's the laner's job to not lose their lane. This doesn't mean that they have to dominate or make plays, but they have to be able to keep up in CS and experience without feeding so that they can be useful later. They have to manage vision around their lane (to prevent ganks or open opportunities) and kill minions, preferably while protecting their tower.

If a lane is far enough behind (or even against certain champions), it can be very risky to gank without getting counterganked or double-killed by the enemy laner. I can not tell you how many times I was ganked around level 6 as Rumble and killed both of my opponents.

A lot of players seem to believe that they have to carry every game, which means that they have to take every opportunity to snowball. Unfortunately, they might not know when to stop with the aggression and play safe until they have reach the point where they can't actually lane against their opponent anymore (since they fed them so many kills and missed so much experience).

This means that they have to control buffs, dragon, baron, vision (through wards, raptor buff, and scuttle crabs), and aid the lanes as they deem necessary (either helping a losing lane or snowballing a winning one) through aforementioned "ganks".

A skilled jungler must be able to apply skills of multiple roles in order to be successful: Efficient farming and positioning, knowledge of Smite's capabilities, as well as proper vision maintenance and denial, skillshot accuracy, and powerful initiation; other key necessities include adequate itemization, high levels of communication, objective control, offensive and defensive strategization, and a precise sense of timing; while having mathematical and logical know-how, and a technical understanding of most lane-based champions and conceptualization of their exploitable points.

Many people do not appreciate the role of a jungler, because a skilled jungler makes the job look easy."

As long as my jungler does at least as much as the enemy jungler I am good. If he does more he is golden.

Would be also nice if he at least show some presence or help to blow summs now and then. I don't always need a kill to start winning my lane.

Angry Monster2 votes

flawed logic.

Junglers depending on their champ selected do different things. You have know why of knowing how much a jungler has done in game when you should be focusing on your lane.

Hard Penetrator1 votes

I almost get what are you talking about but still I don't think there is a jungler that is 100% useless. If he does nothing whole game and expect to win, fuck him and his smite.

I don't consider jungler that needs to farm for 20 mins to get usefull a "jungler", he is a dead weight.

SEKAI36 votes

What?

Junglers are there to win all 3 lanes at the same time, that's your job.

If you can't do it, that means you're a bad jungler period.

Something that random guy who got his arse kicked in lane, despite my (jg) help earlier, would say.

Shinjusuke5 votes

Don't forget control all objectives, donate all your camps to laners, have smite on constantly, engage every gank but not die, and carry the game.

But wait, there's more, they'll also do your taxes, raise your kids, fold and iron your laundry, go back in time and stop the Kennedy assassination and fellate you to completion every night as you fall asleep.

Jungling is hard

Junglers get blamed the most, which kinda sucks for the junglers, but it also makes sense if you think about it. No other role has as much influence over the whole game as jungle, and when you get a shit jungler vs a good one there's almost nothing you can do at that point.

It's not a matter of good jungler vs bad, most people, mainly top laners, don't care if their jungler is good, they care about being hand held all lane phase. Had a top laner who died 4 times early call me a worthless jungler who only farmed even though I had taken drag at lvl 4, got our mid assassin 2 kills, and bot some help as well during that time period. But, I was automatically a terrible jungler because I didn't hold his hand.

Had a similar problem in a game...I was Amumu in one of my first jungling games, and both top and mid were losing. Nasus top kept dying from Lee Sin (who got an occasional gank from their Noc), mid Lulu kept dying to her opponent, Xerath, and bot was doing alright. I was able to gank bot and them some kills but Lulu would walk into lane and die and Nasus never got going. Naturally it was my fault. Never mind little facts like whenever I waited near top, Lee was never in a position for me to gank ((he was either under turret or gone whenever I was up top), or that Xerath hung far enough back in his lane that from the river bushes I couldn't reach him with my bandage toss, or that I was ganking and helping out bot lane as well I could. Sigh, I was a very sad Amumu when mid and top said they'd report me. First time I'd been threatened with that. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1439996759/214990377?tab=overview

THANK YOU SO MUCH

I hate this crap. I hate when my team doesn't have as much game knowledge as me and doesn't understand their job, my job, and the main point of the game. There will be this mid that has gone 8-1-x without getting blue buff and whine because I didn't come to help him or give him his buff, when I'm trying to help other lanes. I'm tired of people being so entitled to ganks, when that's not my job. My job as jungler is to secure objectives. Ganks are only a means to that end. You wouldn't say that a Doctor's only job is to tell you what's wrong with you when you go to see him. Telling you what's wrong with you is part of the process to curing/treating whatever problem you have.

Oh, and I only have one thing to say to the "lost cause lane." You know that lane. The one that feeds first blood and 3 kills before you get done with your first clear, and then ask for ganks all game, not realizing that you gave up on them because you can't fix bad players. This is all I have for you...

item 3070

I know that when I'm the lost cause lane, not to expect any outside help, because I've been effectively taken out of the game at that point.

Junglers can beam. Junglers can make clones of themselves. Junglers can level without gaining experience. Junglers need no money. Junglers are invincible while towerdiving. Junglers can see everything, no wards needed.

Laners always remind me of little kids, who think their parents can do anything. And when they can't, the kids start crying. It also fits, because Junglers are always responsible for what happens on their kids lanes. And they can never have a moment for themselves. Laners always want their attention and candy (=kills).

u know what I appreciate from my jungler? random appearances, it's pretty cool ;o

like I'm trying to stack as Nasus all my jungler needs to do is walk out of a bush and make sure my enemy laner sees alluvasudden they will be infinitely less oppressive knowing that my jungler might be around

BOOOM! YOU JUST GENERATED PRESSURE BY DOING LITERALLY NOTHING ;D

i love doing that i will walk into a lane and the enemy will just run panic recall with like 3/4's of there health left XD

I remember one game where my friend was jungling, our top Riven started pinging for help at (no joke) 3 minutes in, and then got mad at our jungler for not immediately dropping everything to help her -- at the time, he was counterjungling enemy red, and got a kill on the enemy Fizz.

EvilRabbitt4 votes

L.O.L.....I have games like that. I usually don't jung (so I see chat) but its still hilarious. "Hey STUPID JUNGLER WHERES MY GANK? (time, 04:18)" "I'm just about done with my third camp, hold on!" Announcer: FIRST BLOOD! "Stupid jungler....wtf were you doing? (time, 05:26).

Verxint3 votes

What's even better is when you ping their lane and say "careful i think their jungler is gonna come soon, play back" and they ignore you and then get ganked and then its still somehow your fault.

Kitten of Evil3 votes

That's not just a jungler thing. I often mid, and I'll ping MIA and even say in chat "hey bot lane, Zed is MIA, be careful"... and then not 15 seconds later, ENEMY DOUBLE KILL!

EvilRabbitt2 votes

Every time bro. EVERY bunny hopping time.

redniwediS3 votes

You're mixing up what you're saying with the thought that it's not a jungler's responsibility to win your lane. The jungler is there to manage the flow of the game, and that sometimes means forcefully snowballing certain lanes. It is up to the laners to win their own lanes, and as such it is not the junglers fault if they lose lane, however the jungler can and should have a heavy impact on it.

arc954 votes

exactly so when someone feeds 3+ kills very early in the game it makes it so my ganks will do absolutely nothing except secure our top a couple of creeps(or give the enemy more kills)... making it almost impossible so have a "heavy impact" on the lane so what i do is focus on getting our other 2 lanes "fed" and securing objectives... and in the process i do neglect the "feeding" lane purposefully because all ganking will do is set the enemy up for easy doubles(at least until im able to get to a point where i can successfully gank)

ThePlasticSpork3 votes

My favorites are those types who get dumpstered and then repeatedly spam pings for ganks, but never contribute anything that would make ganking easier.

They never wanna pink or sweep the enemy wards, and simply expect you to somehow mosey into their lane while the enemy is fully aware you're there and get them a free kill/double kill if they're bot, and they never want to set good wards up so you don't just get counterganked and end up giving the enemy team 2/3 kills.

Verxint2 votes

They never set up the gank either, they seem to think you can just come into lane, get the opponent to 10 HP, and give them the kill no problem.

One time I had a guy who constantly was pinging his lane opponent and asking for ganks, and every time I would ask "where are his wards" and "are his sums up?" and never got a response. Then, 90 seconds later, ping ping "gank pls".

NewOnyx1 votes

My personal favorite is the ones that start a fight when you just leave blue buff, and if people have not noticed it takes quit a while to get to top and a lot of damage can be done, especially if im fking level 5 with no boots. Then they lose the trade horribly and died right as i show my face, now im seen and most likely im behind now and if im playing against another good jungler they make plays or take dragon...I'd personally take dragon.. im more of an objective jungler, yes i do believe in ganks but its like take a tower/ or chase an Annie who can stun me as udyr and feed _-

StrayXL3 votes

The best one is when the lane is pushed onto the enemy's turret they have no wards, and the enemy jungler comes in and ganks them. Best part is when they die they blame the jungler for not ganking, always a good start to a match

NewOnyx2 votes

or when they do the old

/all Nice gank its to bad our jungler cant gank

then they proceed to be really big dicks and steal your camps or tell the enemy team where you are in your jungle.

Celeste Benal2 votes

Had a team exactly like this once. As Shyv got invaded at red by Volibear. I ping for help. The Yi farming under tower just one screen width away with no pressure ignores me. RIP red buff. I lived. But had to back before finishing first clear. End up being 2 levels behind.

While I'm trying to catch up, all 3 lanes feed like true champs and lose very single outer tower in the next 5 minutes. Laners promptly begin crying how I wasn't helping. I go to help, get REKT. More tears about trash jungler. Meanwhile they are already losing inner towers. Then our Karthus follows me into our jungle and intentionally snipes Krugs as I'm clearing it.

This is the one and only time I have ever just quit a match out of pure rage.

NewOnyx1 votes

Ive never quit a match out of pure rage, because i feel i owe it to my self to finish through, but when shit like that happens i get real salty and i mute everyone quickly because if not they'll say toxic things, i might say some words and that benefits no one..

Yfrappefort3 votes

As a jungler, I now instantly mute anyone who QQ that I don't babysit gank their lane enough.

Especially if they push endlessly and don't ward (thus putting a big "gank me over and over" sign on top of their head).

Instead, I focus on other lanes and how we can get back into the game.

As a laner, I never expect a gank. Ever. I try and adjust my play on the fact that it will be a 1v1 or 1v2. If the jungler do gank for me, I always say ty and generally, they will come back to make me even further ahead.

So yeah, the jungler is not anyone's bitch. Some people just don't realize that.

How to Get Ganks: A Guide by Tombdragon

  1. Don't take jungle camps pre-6 (or too much in general, but if you take one camp pre-6 that sets your jungler behind and it hurts). Also, chicken smite buffs are important for early counter-vision and wolf buff for counter-invasion.
  2. Don't rage if the jungler takes two or three minions when you get the kill during a gank
  3. Don't rage if the jungler takes one or two minions if he burns the enemy's flash or other summoners to escape
  4. Don't ping fifty times for a gank if you're losing lane and the enemy jungler hasn't even farted in your general direction
  5. Wait for the third red/blue buff before asking. They need it for the clears. Sorry :/
  6. Save at least one cooldown when taking blue buff with the jungler's help. He/She'll try to tank it, but trying to last-hit it with your autos after blasting all your spells makes us junglers with ADHD frustrated.
  7. When taking red/blue buff with your jungler's help, allow them to take the two small monsters. If you took it alone, just take them. But it's a nice gesture.
  8. If the jungler needs help for dragon, and you're not in danger by leaving lane (or lose a tower) and going there, say the enemy team is preoccupied doing something else, please go help. You might miss a wave, but your jungler will remember your assistance.
  9. ALWAYS say thank you. A friendly laner is a camped laner :3
  10. If you followed these steps, bring some marshmallows. Your jungler might want a treat inside their tent
Jeddy0172 votes

Long story short:The jungler isn't Superman nor is the jungler suppose to babysit you alone after you died 1v1 to the enemy laner 3 times.

Top tries to make a #BigPlay and towerdives enemy, gives first blood before i'm done with my second camp.

Top returns and shoves lane all the way to enemy tower, and sits there for 5 minutes and pings for me to gank. Gets ganked because he's overextended and dies.

Top decides he can out trade a 2/0 lane opponent in a fair fight and is too impatient to wait 7 more seconds for me to arrive, even though I ping OMW multiple times, and gives yet another kill.

Enemy top is now level 7 while i'm barely level 5.

"GG trash jungler plz report"

Cupkek2 votes

Dear laners,

Apparently, I'm 'autistic' because I won't gank mid or bot lane when they decide to push the enemy turret and get killed in the process. People like you need to learn that just because junglers can help you with your lane, doesn't mean we're required to suicide-dive your lane opponent at your command. Also that asking us to gank while the lane is pushed to the enemy turret is never a good idea.

We are specialized weapons, not cannon fodder

Love,

Junglers

What about those junglers who gank on low after you ping them no?, who come top and give away 2x buffs, those junglers that tell you go in and then both of you die?, what about those junglers who never gank when you are there turret hugging trying not to feed, but the enemy jungler tower dives you and then your jungler is RIGHT there and didnt help, what about those junglers that come on lane and take cs without helping take turret or even waste some summs, what about junglers who feed your laner after you tell them to never come back here, I can go on and on and on, the majority of won games weighs heavily on which team has the better jungler.

LOL. I LOVE THIS!!

I would say that I am a jungle main. And trying to work out of bronze as jungle main is a B#$%H because of exactly what you said. The last couple seasons, top lane is kind of the "ugly duckling" and isn't ganked as much. Bronzies (yes, I know that includes myself, but I like to think that I have Plat+ game knowledge :)) Consistanly whine why I am not ganking the opposing Malphite when they are Maokai. As a jungler, you want to gank squishies. So by definition, that is "typically" mid and bot lane. Yes I gank top, but only when my health warrants a gank and only when they are fully pushed in, because then I have a long time to gap close on them.

WTB teamates that understand this concept.

Actualy it isnt the junglers job to win lane. Its the junglers job to make sure you dont lose your lane. Lets say you ganked that irelia lvl 2 after scuddle and blue. Maby your top would of won lane. The problem with junglers is that they tend to ignore top lane completly. If you dont gank top lvl2, 3, or 6 you deserve to be b1tched at. So yah dont act like you have not your fault at all, it's a team game dude.

EpikFeeder1 votes

Which makes no sense, seeing that most junglers start where bot lane starts and finish first clear on top side.....why not just stroll into top lane before you recall lolz.

Celeste Benal1 votes

Because most junglers when they reach top lane will have about 25% health, if they can even get that far.

Personally, when I get to top I check status up there, if the lane is pushed favorably and the enemy laner is low, I will gank. If not, I kill scuttle and back. If the enemy laner is full health, the odds of me simply feeding a kill are very high.

Riv x Kobe1 votes

But if I'm shoved up to my turret for the entirety of the lane phase and never get a gank there is a problem. Also, junglers who afk farm the jungle are the worst.

Lordofthepittt1 votes

I hate jungling for this reason lol. Like literally, I was jungling just the other day and I had just gotten level 2, and bot lane was begging me for ganks. Its like... let me at least get level 3 first. Anyway, they lost lane, then top lost lane... and then mid lost lane, and I got destroyed by Shaco counter jungling. Naturally it was my fault for not being in 3 places at once carrying out chain pentas.
