Reminder that AD get grievous wounds for 800g tanks for 1000g and Mages have to pay 3000 gold

Mages are also expected to lane against champions like Vladimir, and Akali who heal for absurd amounts of poke and damage. Why are grievous wounds still so much more accessible to AD champions and tanks than mages? Why are mages the only class of champions that need to use multiple item slots building component items, and finish a 3000 gold item just to get grievous wounds?

I mean I thought it would be obvious to put grievous wounds on Orb of Shadow. Riot didn't fix the most basic thing about AP grievous wounds and that is the fact that there is still no component item that can give a mage grievous wounds early enough to matter in a game.

Reminder that bramble vest and executioner's calling also build into items that provide almost no power on their own, whereas the new Morello is still stronger than either in of itself.

Reminder that mages are typically much longer-ranged than the champions building executioner's or bramble vest, and are able to proc Morello's grievous wounds and use it to bully laners, and the two champions that go mid with sustain (and Akali is much better top LOL!) are reliant upon it to lane against mages at all, since both are much shorter range than mages and have little ability to kill them in lane without jungler help (Akali can't before six, Vlad isn't great at securing kills in general).

Reminder that bramble isn't actually dominating top lane anymore.

Tanks need to get auto attacked for it to work. No agency there, and only works against adc and Aatrox basically. AD get it as component on a tank busting item they may not want to buy, and requires either auto attacks (which may be melee) or physical damage abilities (which tend to be short range and none are dots barring Darius passive. AP needs a full item for it, but one that is still all round useful, grants cdr for spell spam to reapply the debuff and is generally applied more easily due to the nature of magic damage dealing abilities.

I'd say mages got the best deal here.

The thing is, they don't need it in the Mid lane. Vlad and Akali don't really have a very strong early laning phase anyway.

And putting it on a 1000g item would:

  1. Be taken Top on Teemo and shit for even more pressure on melee champs.
  2. Be taken on Junglers for insane ganks on healing based champs.
  3. Be taken on Supports for even more pressure on Marksman, who contrary to popular belief have a weak laning phase (only late is broken).

Tl;dr: Midlaners don't need it, other lanes would abuse it.

Most mages go mid lane and take ignite often.

ShuyinTheX2/8/2018, 4:38:04 AM3 votes

They also don't have to deal with shit like Aatrox, Mundo, and Darius.

Reminder that burst damage counters healing and most mages have burst damage.

Wow this proves it mages can never be satisfied by anything. Getting huge buffs to items, getting three new rush items for almost all mages, they made liandries usable by all, morellos usable by all, and gave them a new 2800 item that is massive. Yet something is always wrong.

As a mage main, it doesn't matter too much tbh. Vladimir is the only matchup where it really is necessary, since you can deny Akali healing by zoning her from CS. New Morello will also have flat pen which is a good early buy on a lot of mages, meaning you only have to spend 1500 to upgrade further.

I would rather have an AP QSS or a new AP vs AD item than a cheap source of grievous wounds.

well, same goes for item 3135 and item 3035

how about bruisers, you know.... the people that cant buy bramble vest or mortal reminder?

If AD Champs build item 3123 , they won't finish it until 3-4 items because the upgrade isn't worth it, since it scales with the amount of the armor the enemie has, meanwhile the new AP item is a great item as first or second item on most mages. If one of those components gave grievous wound, then RIP Vladimir , because he sustain won't be able to deal with the poke from mages, neither he has the range to trade with most of them. What's the difference then if an AD builds item 3123 ? Most of the AD Mid laners are actually meele assassins and they won't be able to proc it 24/7 wich gives time to the enemie to react and sustain back some of his HP.

From my understanding, Vlad and Akali are primarily played top, while mages are played mid.

You mean accessible to AD primarily

since bramble/thorn still requires YOU to hit ME which puts all the agency over having it applied in the hands of the enemy

Do you even know what slot efficiency means?

LordGeovanni2/9/2018, 12:26:31 AM1 votes

Fighters dont get to use any effectively. in the same way mages complain that they cant build defensive items because then they would be trading damage. and tanks grevous wounds only works on adcs the majority of the time. and adcs do so much dps and thus have so much healing it doesnt matter

Reminder that mages GW comes from one of the most used and most useful all-round item in the game, which would be built anyways even if there was no GW component in it, while a lot of ADs buy 800g item just to sell it later and lose gold in the process.

Of course, once all champions get access to a cheap item that applies grievous wounds, you might wonder why it even exists. They could just halve all heals
