I Need Some Azir Tips

So I recently picked up Azir (again) after a few months, and I kinda like him, and I'm somewhat newly motivated/determined to improve playing as him.

Are there any things to try when I play as him to become better/practice?

I normally go Nashors>Rylais>CDR Boots, but after that I don't know what other items are good on him. For me, he's different compared to other recent champs I've played: AP Ekko, Nautilus, Annoying Little Shit Teemo, and Twitch.

Greatly appreciated if you can also give me links to some builds that you found appealing.

Thanks In Advance!

builds wont help you gonna always lose more than win on azir because hes hard to play tbh. Otherwise probuilds.net is where you should only go for builds, its low elo so you just need an idea of what to do just find a korean and copy runes/masteries/build.

Yeah, I figured. Practice makes perfect!

Just wanted general tips so that I can get an idea of what to do so that I can practice and then make decisions based on the game once I'm used to it.

I do probably need to make a mastery page dedicated to Azir, he isn't really a traditional mage.

Also, do you know if going cdr boots or attack speed boots are the better option? I like the CDR because it lets me constantly move my soldiers around and summon more, but I'm not sure if attack speed is better so that my soldiers can attack more.

EDIT:

Huh, people take heal/cleanse/exhaust fairly often on Azir. I should try exhaust as opposed to ignite, sounds like a more reliable way to land soldiers' dash and attacks to proc thunderlords.

OK, so I'm doing the right thing with maxing W second, thats a start.

exhaust to burst enemies down fast if you can find an opening otherwise, Barrier for more sustain. also Q is your only means of offense maxing that first would be smart.

and don't forget that W>E combo gives a small shield when dashing so when you get focused and you can all-in. W>Q>E>(barrier/Ignite/Exhaust)>AA. or lv 6 W>R>Q>E>AA. that'd be my combo.

Yeah, I feel like Exhaust is more helpful than ignite on Azir, just helps with his whole kit in general, as well as helping the team catch up to that one guy.

Thanks for the advice! I need to work on my combos, there was one game where I kept hitting E on accident and going closer to an enemy. Not the best game, but something I can take as a learning opportunity.

Don't worry you will drop him after the mage update yet again. At least that will be the last nail in his coffin. And i'll drop him too and i play with him since release despite all the bullshit bugs he had/has.

Why though?

Because other mages will be simply better picks overall?Especially Zyra since she is a control mage too.Azir is struggling already but after the mage update i suspect it will be even worse and probably only one trick ponies will pick him.

I think Azir will be the same after the mage update. He's more mobile and his displacement is easier to work around because it pushes people in a direction, so you have a general idea of where that person will go, where Zyra's just knocks them up, and she is fairly immobile comparative to Azir. Azir's soldiers also don't die, so it's harder to escape them where Zyra's plants are killable. Azir also offers more control in the form of a turret and the threat of his soldiers being able to go anywhere anytime, where Zyra is forced to put her plants near her (I will admit she is able to put more down at once with her update, but that is at the mercy of her passive and W). Azir also has way more attack speed, so it's easier for Azir to help push towers after he gets Nashor's, max W, and even using his W on turrets to add more damage. Azir just has a different niche and is not as easily accessible as other mages. But that's fine, I'm patient enough to learn the techniques of Azir and learn around those. The mage update will add some other build paths with the new items, which I am excited about.

Zyra will be more of a control mage, Azir will be a little control, but mostly about huge DPS, similar to a marksman. It's a good niche to put him in, there are a few ADC's who aren't about super DPS.

And if I need a break from Azir, I can play new Vlad. He's looking more fun compared to the current Vlad.
