Why should morde even have his w passive?

Frager··64 votes·2,120 views

I mean the passive doesn't fit his thematics at all. Wasn't it riot who also stated that "hidden power with zero interaction" was unhealthy and therefore reworked soraka/janna/zileans passives. Then they gave morde a passive exactly going against what they said.

Just curious!

Because it's the band-aid holding this mess of a rework together. He needs the unfair levelling mechanic in order to even function in a duo lane due to his binary kit, stark weaknesses and reliance on getting ahead. It's the unhealthy/unfair mechanic that even makes him go toe to toe with marksmen because he wouldn't function otherwise. This just shows how HARD they have to try to make him fit into a duo lane rather than opting him for solo where he'd be less toxic and actually rely on his own skill/kit rather than artificially getting ahead //rant//

So yeah, he needs to be looked at.

Just play him in a solo lane, I've been playing him top and so far his winrate is solid. Even in games I lose I do great in lane and get multiple kills in team fights.

You don't understand, Riot is forcing Mord to duo lane. His whole kit was made to say "go bot lane" and look at how much he is despised.

I don't know about anybody else but I'm almost CertanT-ly sure that it was a huge failure.

As for taking Mord to a solo lane, sure you can, Old school Mord mains ignore riot trying to force them out. The downside now is that prior to the rework and after, the current Mord is like a crippled animal in top. Sure he may have been unfun to go against, eg; Vlad/Nunu/Shen/WuKong, but at least he was still functional.

RIP Mordekaiser, Riot will be nerfing/buffing you after worlds into a state where Mord mains won't play him anymore.

This.

That horrible passive is (apparently) the only way CerT could think of to entice people to take Morde into bot lane instead of a solo lane. That's it. No other reason.

And it works, because having a couple levels over your opponent by doing absolutely nothing special is a huge advantage that you just have to have. Even if it means taking a melee champion into bot lane, it's worth it.

CertainlyT kits need multiple passives and effects on each skill.

Keevalroy4 votes

They don't NEED multiple passives, what they NEED to have is healthy flow...where nothing he touches ever does.

CertainlyT: "Hey guys I have a re-work I'm working on, can you guess who it's for?"

Passive: Every 3% missing health increases tenacity up to 25%. For every point of tenacity you gain a shield equal to 50 + (Tenacity x 3). You also gain a passive which will absorb 1 crowd control effect every 120/100/80 seconds but not negate the damage. When a crowd control spell is absorbed your passive shield will fill up by 20/35/50%, when full the bar is filled your tenacity shield is activated. You gain reduce damage equal to 25% tenacity which is removed when the passive shield is activated.

Q : "idk some melee skill" 0.1 scaling Ap

W : "need to balance the kit" x2 gold from all sources when below 50% HP. When used, gives a shield equal to current gold x0.5

E : "stays the same" Reduce ratio from 0.7 to 0

R : Deals 100% HP true damage to target champion over 1 minute. When obtaining baron/dragon buff the effects are doubled while this skill is dealing damage to a champion.

Cuase RIOT has no idea what to do with mord (namely CertainlyT) and just does what he wants to do with him.

Yuumi or Lose3 votes

How about this.

Take away the w passive, give his first two q's a small slow and his third q a stun. It makes sense having a huge mace cripple someone wiith a blow like that and then just mess around with numbers so that he becomes somewhat balanced.

HighH11 votes

K he slows you with the first 2 Q's making is easier to stick to you about 20% of your HP in damage if he can hit both of them than does 50% of your HP with his 3rd Q and if he doesn't kill you by then you also get stunned.

Raid Boss Morde1 votes

No... no... no. If we were to remove the W passive, buffing his Q would be the last thing to do. If we remove the W passive, I think he should get some base stat compensations. Go and look at them, they're terrible! I would say up his Health and Health regen slightly, then up his Movement speed to 335. Then increase his base armor.... its way too low for a giant metal suit of armor.

At least those passives fitted the champions. Morde's W passive not only does not fit Morde's thematics, it is far more unfair and unhealthy mechanic than passives you mentioned. Funny thing: if new Morde didn't have W passive, he would be probably completely outclassed by old Morde at being duo laner. Well, old Morde outclassed new one in everything, but, you know, just saying.

Old Mordekaiser was better in everyway.

  • Damage Old Mordekaiser had a lot more damage and it was spread across all of his skills: Q W E R. Now, his damage is all focused into his Q, leaving his W and E weak.

  • Waveclear Old Mordekaiser has very strong waveclear! His Q, W, and E were all strong AoE pushing skills. Now, Morde only his E for waveclear, and it's not even that strong anymore. His Q is now single target, and his W has no AoE if you're by yourself.

  • Passive Old Mordekaiser's passive define him before the rework, allowing him to gain a shield equal to 35% of the magic damage he dealt. New Morde's passive was nerfed by 10%, making it only a 25% gain for damage. It might not seem like a lot just by looking at it, but you can feel it while playing.

  • Range This one may be small, but his Q no longer has range on it. Before, it would bounce, and you could use it to poke nearby enemies. His E had its range reduced, as well as his R.

  • ** Base stats** Old Mordekaiser had more Base Health, Health Regen, Attack Speed, Armor, and Movement Speed. The new Mordekaiser just got more Attack Damage... not a very good trade if you look at what he lost.

Mate what does mordekaiser get to do with anything

I explained you why those passive got removed

Any Aura buff (Sona buffs / soraka buffs ) got removed because it was boring hidden power Besides I dont see how it 16 aoe magic ressist fits soraka

Zilean And Janna gave GLOBAL steroids

Mordekaiser only helps himself with the w.. Its not like zileans used to give global experience while mordekaiser is selfish

Dont get me wrong I hate morde rework. Mainly the new Boring charge up q and the fact taht you cant w minions and that selfcast w is underwelming but thats another story

And yes botlane mordekaiser is forced with the w passive and dragon. Dont be a Sherlock -.-

It's to allow him to be viable in bot lane as a melee champion. While it might not sound like it, being ranged gives a champion a significant advantage over being melee. It means they can freely harass their opponent without fear of reprisal while also farming safely. This is a big part of why top laners hate having to deal with Teemo and Quinn and why those champions can easily shut down many other picks when played right. Now, consider bot lane, where it's common for there to be two ranged champions and you can see the even bigger disadvantage someone like Morde is put in. While his passive shield can help mitigate some harassment (and I suspect a number of changes were made specifically to help him in lane), it costs health to build up in the first place and is not enough on it's own. The trade off then, to avoid making the shield too strong, is to give him power in another way. Since a melee champion will be getting less farm and thus less gold, experience, and items, they chose to compensate him by giving him full experience for the creeps he does kill. That way, he can still fight effectively through his base stats until the mid and late game, where he'll have (hopefully) caught up in gold with farm and kills so that he can get actual items.

It was a band-aid fix to give him more duo-lane power.

Rozzeta1 votes

I suppose that, during development, they feared Morde would be pushed easily out of lane by the ranged poke, so they gave that advantage to him. Let's be real, as the sole melee ADC in the game, balancing him will be like walking a tightrope: Just a little stronger or weaker, and he instantly becomes unbalanced.

Bijorn1 votes

W isnt invisible power. How can it be when you can easily see what it does? As for WHY he has it...I don't know. Give the old W back and that will fix it. As for the rest of his kit...i dunno how to fix it besides reverting the entire rework.

Vhalthoria1 votes

CertainlyT needs to understand for once, that he designs champions for the community, not for himself. This is why I question the point of the PBE Feedback thread where everybody was strictly against his design changes. In the end, feedback was ignored cause he knows best and now everybody, including himself, has to deal with this mess of a rework. Again, because he knows best.

At least the other designers were actually considering feedback to an extend for the other juggernauts. We just got stuck with a dude that refused to consider anything that the old community threw at him and instead, forced everything he wanted regardless, because he knows best. Well, at least he now knows he was wrong.

He might be a designer, but design is only as good as drawing an imaginary friend on a paper. We can clearly see this in action by this rework. Everything looked fabulous on paper and the end result was atrocious.

Hopefully Morde is fixed soon as right now the situation with him is really sad.
