auto fill is bs for ranked

as much as i like getting into my ranked game faster, i like to win more. there is no reason to rush a game where you can go up or down in LP and/or rank. plus auto fill kills the ability to choose lanes witch i believe that is why dynamic is what it is, so that we have the opportunity to play a lane we are good at, and with that ability a chance to win the game.

what do you think of auto fill in ranked type your thoughts in the comments bellow.

Dynamic queue =/= New Champ Select.

both are BS tho

I don't have to deal with it, but if I did that would mean that the alternative is incredibly long queue times and/or incredibly mismatched teams in terms of MMR.

I'm a person capable of playing any role even though I prefer a couple, so I wouldn't mind being stuck in one of my less preferred roles from time to time if it means faster, more evenly matched games.

If you only know how to play one role and only a few champions, you should be playing league IMO. I'm in the same boat as you. Whatever riot does to try and fix things people always have issues

LatetotheRace3 votes

That's what happened with the release of DQ, everyone is specializing in one or two roles, myself included. Riot made a terrible decision this season, and releasing autofill only reemphasized the problem they caused.

Marshbouy2 votes

But isn't auto fill essentially what old draft was? Old draft was a rush to see who got the best RNG in pick placements. If you were last pick there was a high chance that you would end up supporting. You had to know all the roles or get bad placement RNG and have to go support as a top main, adc as a mid main, hell even have to go mid or top as a support main. This problem was always there so people just learned multiple roles and hoped they got the position they wanted. This problem was eliminated with the new champ select and DQ and is only being brought back by auto fill. This isn't a new issue. People will eventually relearn all the roles and deal with it, I will say that I like the old champion select better.

What are you ranting on about? What I said is that Riot imposed a new champion select to allow us to play what we want, and since that's been implemented people are specializing in one or two roles. Riot has effectively set everyone up to fail if they get autofill.

Marshbouy2 votes

Then learn the roles better. People are acting like this is the end of the ranked experience but if they think back to old champion select it was the same. Ill try to rephrase what i said, i was on my phone and talking to my friend at the same time when writing that. Basically you were not guaranteed a role in the old champion select. That is what is happening with autofill but people cannot handle this change.

Oye genius, I know how the old system worked......... And yes, this will ruin the ranked experience atm. Everyone is used to playing 1 or 2 roles, if riot forces autofill back everything will go to shit. They should simply revert the system at the end of the season back to solo Q. But right now, they don't have a lot of options.

Marshbouy1 votes

Didn't know if you just started this season or something :/

there is no guarantee that soloQ will fix this issue, as the issue could very well be champ select. they are trying to make queue times less astronomical. Personally i think that only knowing and practicing two roles is a bad idea, and i try to practice all of the roles all the time.

Nothings wrong with the new system. I just don't get how people are just as bad even though they get their roles... 5 percent represent #scrublife

If that's the case then Riot might as well get rid of the new champ select. The old champion select promoted learning to play all roles at least to the degree that you don't autofeed when not playing your main role.

The new one does NOT.

That's why this move is both contradictory, hypocritical and breaks DQ even more than it's already broken.

Marshbouy1 votes

DQ=/=champ select. The two are not related. Do not pin the champ select issues on DQ.

Blåbæret2 votes

People's always been specializing in lanes. Idk what you're on about, the new champ select changed nothing.

LatetotheRace2 votes

Of course people had a main role they wanted to play the most and were likely the best at. But it was different from what it is now. Last season I could play 4 of 5 roles proficiently, now I can really only play 3 well. Which makes me screwed if I get stuck with ADC/JG. Can I blame riot entirely for this? No, but they more or less set me and the community up to fail.

If they are going to do this dumb auto fill thing i'd prefer to just call my role pref like last season. Or at least for auto fill times it shows everyone their prefs and instead of it trying to force us to certain roles it lets us work it out ourselves. ( i know you can technically already do this, but people seem to feel pretty locked into the role it gives them)

I do kind of wish they'd add a "fill, but not X" option. So that people that don't care but don't want their fill to automatically be supp could pick fill/support, and people that usually play a given role and want to do something different could do fill/(usual main role) and so on.

I do not believe that matchmaking that can handle two ranked positions can't handle a single negative logic statement. Though... actually, the system can't really handle the two ranked positions thing, it's completely screwy, so never mind.

An improved autofill selection would be nice. An option where you can set a timelimit, so you can choose if and when you want it.

Then one-tricks set the time limit to whatever Riot would make the max be and restart queue the moment it reaches that point. But with that said, I really thought auto-fill would only be for completely absurd queue times like 20+ minute waits. I didn't think random dudes would be experiencing this.

Blåbæret2 votes

Auto fill is retarded. Most people are good at one or two lanes tops, auto fill puts you in a situation where you, more or less, have less chance to win your lane.

I dont have to deal with it because im low elo scrub. It seems like a poorly thought out solution to the issue though imo. I prefer alternative solutions that have already been suggested on the forums like;

Player lists each role in order of preference

ADC - 1 MID - 2 TOP - 3 JGL - 4 SUP - 5

Queue will then look for a match with an adc position, if non are available in a reasonable time, the same system autofill uses will activate but instead of giving any random position will expand the search for adc and mid. If queue is STILL huge, repeat for position 3 then 4 then 5 until a reasonable queue time is found.

I image most teams in master and challenger will be much more open to swapping roles though. In high elo streams, most people do get their preferred role, simple because their teammates know them and know they can play that role well.

think of this auto fill = support

Surr20plz1 votes

I don't like this idea.

People will troll (and by troll I mean lock in one of their pref roles if they're higher in pick order), and I can't really blame them for doing so.

zecastar1 votes

I agree and it would be nice if it was optional in a more direct way than dodging when it's past the estimated time. However, it's only an issue in high Plat and above. Fixing the broken and meaningless ladder is a way bigger concern.

And you'll get Support too, b/c nobody plays it.

Friendly Ram1 votes

I've gotten every position with fill. Honestly it's quite fun to be suprised.

BluePolarizer1 votes

It doesn't affect you unless you have extraordinary MMR.

Autofill essentially affects only bronze 5 0 LP 100 MMR guys who are truly 'extraordinary' and in the 99th percentile, or the 1st percentile master tier players.

Only thing I like about auto fill is it gets me in games in 2-5 seconds. Aside from that, you might as well call it support as well. Think in my last fills , I got mid once and jungle once out of 20 or so. Rest of that 20 was support. (I like support though so it doesn't bother me.)
