I think that Kennen will be very strong next patch.

3 reasons

  1. Kennen's general changes (especially the ult) are some damn good buffs overall.
  2. Energy champs don't care about mana regen getting gutted.
  3. Kennen loves to rush Zhonyas, which makes him damn good against Zed, who will be a pick or ban with the QSS changes.

Rushing Zhonya's will not be optimal now. You will feel your damage being gimped by it.

If Kennen makes a comeback, it'll be top, not mid.

Rushing Zhonya's is still optimal. But there will be other things you could build instead. And I think that he could be played mid but yea hes better top but he does good into zed, ahri, leblanc, and a few others

Edit: Although he bullies the crap out of melee top laners like darius, trundle, riven, etc

But there will be other things you could build instead.

Means its not optimal. If there are other options, that means its not optimal unless you're going on the same relativity that IE is viable on Vlad.

I find it the opposite since his W range got nerfed just enough to where most champions can engage on him with dashes and such now.

Based on LCS History, Kennin is probably a top laner in terms of what he provides. (With the main thing being team engage.)

And that in mind, You want Zhonya's to help you survive the team engage. That's literally why you build it, (not for the damage.) The only alternative to that, might be Crystal Scepter.

The 2 min CD is really prohibitive, and Kennens need good damage to be worth using.

While the ult is nice for 'engage' it doesn't stop anyone immediately, and without the damage behind it, and of course his other abilities, Kennen ultimately falls flat.

It won't be bought until 3rd+ item if Kennen ends up decent this patch. They might sit on the seeker's, but there are much better options. Practically throughout the entire game, not just early.

Okay, I just double checked the Patch notes. Damage, should not be an issue, even in terms of raw numbers. While it's did lose 30 AP, it also dropped 600 in gold. which is roughly 3/4 for a Blasting wand, which is roughly the same AP.

The only way it would be an issue would be in terms of late game slot efficiency. Which isn't the problem than Kennen would be facing. So the only thing to inhibit that, would be the item CD, yet even for an Engage mage, your probably not using off cooldown.

kennen is good against zed regardless of zhonyas. if zed ults him he just Es to get tanky and juke some damage and ult zed and bursts him really fast.

You don't always wanna rush zhonyas as Kennen.

Two problems Kennen suffers from in mid lane.

  1. He gets bullyed super easy (Zed's Q doesn't get blocked my minions)
  2. He's waveclear is awful compared to other midlaners. Zed succeeds in waveclear.
