Why can I be matched against opponents of a higher rank than I can team up with?

If you're talking about the "you can't duo queue with anyone a full tier above you", that's only for ranked.

In normals, anything goes.

Last I checked.

Right, but a silver can still be matched against a plat.

I get this all the time. The rules for duo queuing are brand new, so there's still some bugs in the system that need worked out. This little detail probably just got overlooked.

No, the rules for duo queue ONLY apply to ranked.

Normal games have a different MMR from ranked, which means that a plat (ranked) can get paired against a silver (ranked) in normal games.

Also, a Silver (ranked) can queue with a Plat (ranked) in normal games.

Arn't we talking about ranked? That's the only time where the duo queue rules apply, as you say, and that was mentioned by the OP. I'm just working off that assumption.

That would make sense to me. Or even if he's gold 1 mmr, there could be plat 5s that are either gold mmr or are just closest available at the time to gold 1.

Yes, I was referring to ranked play. I figured that was clear enough, since a discussion about a problem that exists in ranked and not in normals wouldn't really make sense if discussing normals.

Yea this is absolute bullshit. I am close to quitting LoL again due to this poor match making.

It happened before, where I was getting matched up against opponents who all 5 synced at a high level of skill and steam rolled my team only leaving me to wonder why I was matched with players obviously were EXTREMELY inexperienced simply by watching their game play.

This past week I'v had at least 15 games where I was matched up against teams that appeared to be so organized that there was NO WAY that they were bronze or silver.

What was also amazing was watching my team mates end up with double digit deaths, few or no kills, then having them yell at me as if I am supposed to baby sit and carry every lane for them.

It doesn't make sense at all... I often hold my lane... then I look at another lane and they are getting pulverized because it's obvious they don't even know how to play their champ at a decent skill level.

There is NO FUCKING way that the teams I am being matched up with are even close to the skill level of players on my team. While I have less than 3 deaths at 20 minutes... my team mates are already hitting 8+ deaths diving recklessly into turrets or chasing into the jungle where its obvious that anyone with a mind for game play wouldn't make these moves...

this is ridiculous.
