Systematic AP nerfs. Some context @Meddler.

Now before i start this post. Yes i am fully aware that Crystal Scepter could not exist on it's current state.

Now onto the "rant". AP has been slowly drained from mages over the patches. First was the general reduction of NLR items from 120 to 100. Then we had the removal of DFG, Then the remake of D.Cap's item path into 3 components and then the additional combine cost increase. Then Hourglass was removed from the NLR item line so we get even less AP. And then to add insult to injury, ROA, which is a stacking item lost 20 AP and 400 mana. Now here's the kicker: a stacking item should give more stats than an instant item becuase you are making an investment for the latter game stages. That is not the case since ROA is about as good as a Morello with some health past 10 minutes. Hardly anyone builds Tear these days. Luden's was introduced, then nerfed to ground and almost no one builds it, even the people who benefi from it, like poke mages. Yes new Abyssal is good, but only for short-to-mid range mages. New Morello is nice though i'll give that.

And now Blue Buff no longer gives 15% AP. So now mages will struggle in the mid game since they have little to no access to any high damage mid-game spike. Where is the proposed second Lost Chapter item? Or the buffs to D.Cap? Or maybe introduce a new NLR item? Buff the Catalyst tree, which seems to just be growing dust on the sides? Anything?

EDIT: Yes i am also aware of the extra health and CDR changes, although in reality ROA lost 100 health since it's first changes and Rylais is now also losing 100 health. And CDR while much more abundant, is actually somewhat awkward to build into due to miss-matching amounts in items.

EDIT 2: BUMP

They need to stop pigeonholing AP items. There are too many AP items that require precise circumstances to be valuable when mages are a diverse lot.

RoA's returns require late game mages that use all of its stats Liandries requires a slow Tear nearly requires a low cooldown spammable skill Rylai's is now used on what exactly? Abyssal has its range requirement Chalice is now a support item The Hextech's are engage only items

it doesn't matter what happened before

Mages are meta mid right now, and something needs to be done.

I'm fine with them systematically nerfing AP items, with the caveat that this is the start of an across-the-board reduction in all damage (AP and AD).

The fact is, damage creep is excessive in this game. A carte blanche damage reduction is a good way to wipe the slate and start rebalancing the game.

AP items are really bad right now. There's just not enough choice. That said, I'm glad Rylai's is getting gutted.

Don't forget making Archangels passive unique. Or sheen losing AP part

ap got nerfed slightly. health on mage items got buffed.

they bacame tankier and deal slightly less damage. its not a straight nerf, but to make them not get shit on by assassins.

Why hasn't this thread received a response? It's pretty clear riot is deliberately trying to make mages less impactful at full build. 60 AP removed from midlane itemization in MYMU, 25 now removed from Rylai's, blue buff %AP removed. No sign of any changes to Deathcap or Ludens.

If this is their response to "damage creep" complaining on the boards then they need to systematically nerf AD itemization as well and reduce tank base damages.

I'd like some context for this as well. If they want to turn Rylai's into an item tailored for zyra and Brand support and remove the %AP buff on blue buff I'd like to know where the Deathcap and Ludens buffs are.

somehow nearly every mage in the game sits at 53% winrate.

They want mages to be spammers with high cd and high mana, but no burst, or sustained fighting cause no mana regen.

Bumping the thread for visibility

Blue buff doesn't give 15% ap? When did that change happen? I didn't see it in any of the notes. Also, you forgot to mention that d.cap passive got buffed when it's price increased from 30 to 35%
