Banning Items Instead of Champions? What do you think?

So i have been thinking about this for a while and have talked with some friends a couple of times but basically i wanted to get y'all opinions on this and what would you do if this was the case. So we all know about the banning phase and that before everyone selects their champion they ban a champion so that no one can play them right? Well what if you had the option to instead of banning a champion so no one could play them you could ban an item so no one could buy it during that game? You would have to decide on whether or not you wanna ban that champion that just tilts you whenever you just see them or ban an item that can make specific champions way overpowered. I think that could make champion select much more interesting. But the real question I wanna ask y'all isn't whether or not you think this should be a thing. My question is if this was a real thing do you guys think that you would find yourself banning more items over champions or would you just stick to banning champions? I'm really curious.

There are several problems with this:

Trolls would ban boots

Trolls would ban essential items for their team comp

Silvers wouldn't know what items to ban

Banning items shouldn't be a thing, it would render even MORE champs useless, as if there weren't enough now.

Horribly bad idea, it would let people abuse comps.

Ban health pots, boots, long sword, amplifying tome, and champion specific items. GG.

i dont think anyone here actually read what the question was. the question was NOT should this be a thing. the question was if it was a thing would you ban items over champions or stick with banning champions.

Finished items or component items?

Because both would affect things pretty badly. Especially if banning components also prevented finished items from being purchased.

For instance, ban Cloth Armor and Full AD comps become broken as hell.

Ban Dagger and suddenly attack speed champions don't work anymore.

Ban Long Sword, oh, there go more than half the entire roster of champions.

Amp Tome? Buh-bye AP, mana-reliant champs.

Machete? Junglers can't finish either type of smite.

Tier 1 boots? In-kit mobility creep skyrockets and Pantheon likely becomes a problem in top lane again.

The list goes on.
