What is the point of starting in bronze/iron?

So Ratirl, a challenger/diamond/masters player, is currently on a 91 game win streak on his new account. He's gold 2. 91. game. win. streak. gold. 2.

So for the rest of us that aren't prodigy level players how do we obtain gold/plat/diamond on brand new accounts? 4000 games? 10000 games?

I've been plat for several seasons now on other accounts. 15 games into the season I'm bronze 1. In any other season I'd be at least low gold by now.

Why? Why is this system in place?

I think it's your hidden MMR, I finished preseason at P1 and got placed G1.

Yea that's pretty good. You should get plat 1 pretty easily from that position. New accounts used to start their MMR around silver 4. So getting high silver or even low plat at the end of 10 placement games wasn't impossible in previous seasons. Now the max a new account can obtain is around silver 4.

As per usual Riot takes community feedback into consideration and Silver players didn't want new players/accounts placed into their games cause it ruins their competitive integrity

So they introduced Iron to push more people down and have Bronze as a middleman elo now, of course this is a shit system but this is what community feedback does.

Is it our fault that silver players suck? That after hundreds of games they're still at the "average" skill level? What about bronze kids now? Should the bottom 20% of players have competitive integrity too?

The point of starting in iron and bronze is that most new players are at that level. In the old system you could have fresh level 30s with only a hundred or so games feeding their ass out in low gold and silver.

The current issue is that riot's system doesn't know how to handle large win streaks or people like Ratirl who deserve to rank up quickly.
