Balance and changes should be around high elo players not pro play.

Of course the title sounds counter intuitive, "You want league to be balanced around high elo players but not the pros who are the very best at the champions?" Yes.

My reason for this is because SoloQ and the LCS operate differently. We are comparing 2 coordinated teams facing off to two teams of 5 random (high elo) players. Certain champions are going to be much more valuable in pro play (team wide teleport ultimate, Global shields for dives) than they are going to be in a SoloQ games were you can't communicate like you can in the LCS.

Now perhaps some of you may be of a different opinion, but i'm perfectly fine seeing champions balanced around how (high elo) players typically behave in a soloQ environment where all you have to communicate is pings and quick messages in chat, and seeing the max potential of these champions under those constraints and knowing that if you practice enough you're going to do well and have the typical 55-56% winrate for a main give or take a percentage point. What i dislike, is that the LCS where you have people who know each other and communicating with voice coms is what is dictating normal/soloQ games where most are just random people. Some champions (ryze, shen, vladimir) typically get overnerfed because of it even though they're balanced at higher Elo. A champion that is balanced at high elo can still end up being a priority pick in the LCS simply because certain strategies that require you know and trust your teammates with perfect communication which just isn't the environment for most players.

First of all, why would they? The LCS makes Riot a hell of a lot more money than their microtransactions do, and the LCS is far more interesting when competitive play is balanced, so as a company, it makes sense for Riot to balance around competitive play.

Second of all, they balance around both.

They do balance around high Elo. Who do you think the pros play against in solo q?
