At this point I think Eve'd Eve would be stronger than Live Eve

  1. Old Hatespike did higher DPS by no small margin than the new Hatespike even before all the nerfs. It would also apply Muramana procs like an absolute monster.

  2. True, long duration stealth on her W in addition to a pretty solid slow for pre-six ganking.

  3. Ravage did magic damage and thus synergized with Deathfire in addition to shredding the target's Ar/MR. It also had better base damage than the present incarnation.

  4. Malice and spite provided a huge movespeed boost that you could take advantage of while stealthed and healed Eve on kills and assists!

  5. Old Eve's useless passive basically allowed her to totally ignore damage from lane minions when ganking. That might not seem like a huge deal, but that stuff adds up fast.

I find it absolutely hilarious than an intentionally gimped to uselessness champion is stronger than the mess we have on our hands right now. At least Old Eve was actually fun to play.

I'm so torn on this. I want to say yes but...

...

Walrus.

Hmph. Unlike you who lacks the willpower to unwaveringly make the right decision, I took no time in pledging my vote to the proper cause. Only a truly immature person who fails to hold within himself any sense of justice would choose anything but the only choice that can right all the wrongs that have been committed here... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...I chose Walrus.

I just wish we had the option of real stealth again. I think her passive fits her theme, but running into a lane from the bush and doing as much damage as you can, before having to run away, does not make a good assassin, and that is currently most of her playstyle. I know she got changed so that she wouldn't stomp low level normals, but with the current difficulty of the jungle she doesn't really have a lane to fit into now. One of the benefits of the old Evelynn was her extremely close range stun. which had pro's and cons, because she was always a bit squishy, so popping out of stealth was also dangerous to her. Now even stepping out of a bush is dangerous, and the slow she gets more often than not is to keep your opponent from killing you more than keeping them from running away.

New Eve is garbage in the current jungle item 3070

too bad eve didnt change her name to lee sin, then she'd never get nerfed

Sadly i doubt they will ever let her be good because of perma stealth since it counter noob and, well, 90% of the community is bronze. She also doesnt do flashy play, so they don't care about her.

Because stealth is very good at punishing mistakes and they make allot of mistakes. Sure, they don't ward when they push all the way up to enemy turret but they'll at least see a Yi or Lee come into lane behind them. Eve they won't see until a little before she's right behind them.

Gorsz2 votes

Stealth is good at punishing anyone leaving their tower because a champion is invisible.

Not "punishing mistakes". Unless the mistake is to forever not hump your tower..

Thunder Dreamss1 votes

The thing is Eve has no CC. If you're a little more skilled at the game you won't push all the way up to enemy turret without an escape. A quick flash or dash and then it's just a matter of weathering 4 or 5 Hate Spikes on your way back to turret.

That's not to say Eve will never kill you if you know how to flash but it is why she quickly falls off when you're playing above bronze.

An easy fix I heard is removing her perma-stealth and putting it on her W for a few seconds so they can allow her to actually exist. She's like Cass. She's squishy and... that's it.

That's what I would favor. It would mean Eve gets a new Innate (Malice and Spite heal, kthx). It would also require some pretty hefty fiddling with the rest of her abilities.

The alternative is to make it so Eve can be spotted by green and yellow wards in about the same way she can be spotted by champions. That's the only way I can imagine Eve's current Innate surviving a remake.

sigh.. I guess you missed the part where pro players were abusing eve for free wins.

Every champion abusable in low levels is the same at the top levels. It wasn't noobs who got Master Yi reworked, it was Alex Ich.

Current Evelynn is garbage, she took it in the ass harder than any other champion in the game with a series of unrelenting nerfs that hit her base damage, scaling and even CDs across the board.

The ONLY one of her skills that wasn't utterly raped was Dark Frenzy which does no damage and has no scaling, gg.

Old Eve tier > New Eve tier

Eve'd is no longer sufficient to described the state that Eve is in considering her intentionally gimped state is probably better than this absolute abomination.

We need to come up with some new word to describe her pitiable condition.

Didn't Olaf's rework Olaf "Olaf'd Olaf" so hard that you couldn't call him 'Olaf'd" anymore?

I feel like it did.

Maybe when they broke Olaf after breaking him when he was already broken he got so broke that he couldn't break anymore and thus the only direction for him to go from there was towards fixed and now Olaf is actually Sleeper OP.

YaaaY! I'm not alone thinking current Eve sucks!

There were only 2 things that needed to be changed with old Evelynn: 1.) change stun from stealth to slow/fear 2.) If Evelyn was visible trough oracle/pinkie -> lower duration of stun/slow/fear

Right now we have tank Evelynn who isn't suited for any lane nor jungle. With no assassin skills with fake stealth with tank-like R..

Old Eve was LITERALLY game-breaking. If you weren't around for her reign of terror, you really shouldn't comment. Eve originally wasn't a jungler. She became a jungler AFTER being gutted. At that point, someone learned how to work with her, and she was literally a must-ban at all competitive tiers because she was completely broken.

This post smacks of greenhorn.

I was around for OLD Eve. Her win-rate hovered around 52% and she never saw much competitive play. The reason Riot annihilated her was because she was causing people down in wood Elo to literally quite the game in frustration.

This topic isn't about OLD Eve. This topic is about post-Eve'd Eve. When she lost her stun and her Ult heal was halved. When Riot intentionally nerfed her to the point that people got banned for picking her in Ranked. I put forward that even as awful as she was then, she's was stronger than the abomination we've got now.

Basically, the point of this topic is to make it clear that the Eve rework has failed and Riot needs to go back to the drawing board.

In even more seriousness, though, I think Evelynn could afford to have a lot more power if she interacted better with vision.

Making Eve get spotted by green wards (give her that ! above her head so she knows that she has been seen) would open up quite a bit of kit power without question. If she gets remade again that's the only way I can imagine her current Innate surviving. Personally I would rather see it get the axe and Eve gain a short duration true stealth on her W.

But who knows what will happen!

Maybe Riot will finally comment on the state of Eve so we know she isn't just going to languish uselessly for a year and a half again.

Gorsz3 votes

You guys always blame bronze for every single thing in the game.

Stfu... old eve was super broken and created an entire passive game of tower humping. Anyways I remember the stealth/stun brokeness, and the max dfg+ult brokenness.

Too many noobs artificially got freelo/high ranked with this historically broken champion. Good riddance let her forever sit super weak.

When the Yorick patch was nearing Morello made a topic about what they were going to do with Eve and why. I'm basically paraphrasing the reason he laid down for what ultimately made Riot decide to remove the old Eve from the game.

I'm not 'blaming bronze'. It was sub-30 players who were being tormented the hardest by Eve since they didn't even know what wards were yet. Was she strong in higher level play? Sure. Again, her win-rate hovered around 52% at the height of her popularity. She wasn't 'game breaking', but she DID force the enemy team to play passively, which was the other reason why she got crushed.

Basically, in order of importance:

  1. OLD Eve was making new players quit the game.
  2. OLD Eve was providing way too much information for her team via her long duration stealth.
  3. OLD Eve was forcing the enemy team to play passively or get whomped, and we all know how much Riot loves BIG PLAYS.

Stfu... old eve was super broken and created an entire passive game of tower humping. Anyways I remember the stealth/stun brokeness, and the max dfg+ult brokenness.

Good. And I don't want to see either of those come back. I think burst out of stealth (her present Ult) was a terrible direction to take on Riot's part because heavy burst out of stealth is awful to play against. I don't want her to be bypassing green/yellow wards (whether due to short duration stealth or just letting greens see her like champions do) so that there's actually a cost effective way to deal with her. I want to see Eve become a champion who actually has healthy play patterns as is fun again.

Too many noobs artificially got freelo/high ranked with this historically broken champion. Good riddance let her forever sit super weak.

Y'know that's the point of Ranked, right? To abuse the most mechanically powerful options to optimize one's chance of winning? If you don't want to play to win, that's what Normals are for.

Teridax682 votes

Walrus. Walrus is always the right answer.

In all seriousness, though, I don't think this should boil down to a question of power. Was Old Eve stronger than Live Eve? Probably. Was she healthier? Absolutely not. If Old Eve had somehow survived to the present day, she likely would've been nerfed even harder than Live Eve. Even with all of its issues, her current kit is the lesser of the two eve-ils (gag).

In even more seriousness, though, I think Evelynn could afford to have a lot more power if she interacted better with vision. She has a massive amount of (literally) invisible power due to her ability to sidestep green wards, which causes her to significantly affect lane dynamics (people need to either play super-passively early on or make regular 100g investments for true sight) just by existing. It also means she can't have too much damage, especially not early, because even with a sight ward she can still appear literally anywhere without indication. I think Eve could afford to have significant buffs to her damage if only her stealth were special-cased to have green wards (and perhaps minions) spot her: she'd still be able to appear anywhere in any lane, provided she plays smart and takes an alternate path, but in return for that extra bit of strategic thinking she could have a much easier time clearing and ganking.

WTBeGirl100EUhr2 votes

Man, at one point I played a lot of Eve. Now she's just so weak and unfun to play. Her kit is super-unrewarding, with Hate Spikes feeling completely useless and only her W feeling like it does anything significant.

  • She doesn't do enough damage to be an assassin. If you pop out of stealth to jump on someone they will turn on you and you will die. Playing Evelynn jungle feels like playing support. You can turn up to do your part in a 2v1/3v1 but you're just useless in a 1v1 unless really fed.
  • She can't be tanky enough to be a tank. Yet, she is almost getting shoehorned into this role simply because she's all-but-useless in all other ways. Building her as a bruiser is the only way to have any impact at all late game, and your early game pressure is just not worth it in her current state.
  • Her stealth takes away too much of her power budget I don't mind the stealth passive... it's just eating up far too much of her power budget. As others have said, letting Green/Yellow wards see her would allow power to be added back to her kit, maybe in the form of some way of amplifying her damage.
  • Her hybrid damage screws itemization. Just changing her Q to deal physical damage would allow her to become much more powerful, or her E and magic damage (personally, I'd prefer the former) as it improves her ability to itemize, building items like Black Cleaver or Youmuu's Ghostblade in the former case or Deathfire Grasp or Liandry's Torment in the latter. Her inability to build penetration items effectively ruins her damage (and her BDSM theme. wait, what?). Her AD/AP scalings should pick one and stick with it. Better itemization items for hybrids is something this game needs, but in the mean time not screwing champions by giving them mixed damage is a step in the right direction.
  • Her kit feels outdated. Yes, I understand that this is "new" Evelynn. She's already been reworked once and she's in dire need of another. Not a large-scale one, but one on par with Viktor - where the core of her kit is kept the same, but cleaned up. A low CD damage ability on her Q is fine, but the current iteration is just awful button-spamming. Yeah, positioning is pretty key so it hits what you want it to but it's still an awful, unrewarding ability design. Her W - possibly the best feeling part of her kit - grants her no combat ability. Maintaining the active whilst granting a passive (even something simple) or granting the active a secondary effect would make her life easier. Also, her W should not unstealth her. This has always felt a little awkward to me personally, and I know that people will disagree but I hate it.
  • Mana Regen on her passive wastes her power limit. Nothing more to say here, really.

"at one point I played a lot of eve"

Im sure you did because she was one of the most broken champions in the game by far. The stealth-stun was super broken, and then the max HP nuke ult with DFG was super broken.

Why would you put the Walrus option? You have tainted your poll because Walrus is the OBVIOUS choice.

On the note of the topic - Eve has been really hit or miss. I am not impressed by her DPS which I know was hit hard by the change, but that was at the trade-off of near flawless ganks from her invisibility. The problem I have now is that her sheer inability to come out of jungle at near full health is putting her in a position where she just isn't viable. She has to expend too much effort just to survive her jungle that she cannot gank effectively anymore.
