So I read the Gnar Guide a while ago and I found the build there to be super successful for me:

I found it to be good, however, I saw some others (like Scarra) building Gnar like this: 
Which one is better? Also, how do you recommend build Gnar?
NOTE: I always wonder why people get Sunfire on Gnar, he is mainly ranged, so why?
Blueharlequin1 votesI normally rush trinity on gnar followed by sunfire/randuins and then banshees. If I have extra gold while building the two tank items I put together pieces of the blade. I usually go merc treads for tenacity but ninja tabi is always a good second. I then wrap the build up with anything because anything works at that point. I hold a preference toward Maw or Zephyr.
And the reasons sufires is a good item is because in team fights when you go mega gnar the extra damage from sunfires is worth it. Plus it's cheap and affordable not to mention Gnar doesn't need a lot of extra armor and health because of how much mega gnar buffs him.
Hyrum Graff1 votesIt really depends on the game. If your team is super squishy, scarra's build is going to work or better for you. If you have a Thresh support, graves adc, and maokai jungle, you can probably afford to go for now damage.
This is true on all champs. Situational builds are OP.
12tales1 votesI believe the standard build is basically Brutalizer+Full Tank, with 19 Armor Pen from runes. Or, at least, that's what Darien was building when I last checked.

because it makes his w (main source of DMG IMO) deal increased DMG while still being meaningful to mega gnar. I feel like life steal is only effective on mini gnar, which is only half his kit.
