Is there a particular reason that destroying all three inhibitors causes double super minions?

Title. Is this really necessary? You've already got super minions coming from 3 different lanes, and you're clearly not exactly in a good position anyways. Why is destroying 3 inhibitors like summoning Exodia? Don't even get me started on what happens when the enemy team inevitably gets Baron.

To end games. You have lost all lane objectives on your team. in anything that's not so close that a TP Backdoor cant break a nexus your team earned a loss for not controlling the game to get to this point.

Fair enough

While this is a fair point, I have to address the negativity of this. Basically you confirm that Riot is hard on minimalizing the chances of a potential comeback by literally doubling the siege pressure if you lose all 3 inhibs.

I cant say I view it as a negative, at the point you have lost 9 towers and 3 hibis you have earned a loss in a vast majority of games. remember that the nexus is pretty dam close to fountain. Folks running in and out of a safe zone and healing then clearing waves/ reengaging champions is not really interactive gameplay or beneficial for quality of matches. All game long the Defending team is favored almost every situation there's not a large gap between teams so its pretty clear when a match gets to a point they failed to defend every protected non nexus objective or their teams they have not been playing as well as the other team. I love comebacks, but I don't feel a team that's rolled over on almost every single building deserves to have a easy time with one. It needs to be earned, Attrition with fountains just doesn't meet my mark for a proper amount of effort to bounce back.

I feel its worth mentioning this to help explain my Bias more. One thing Riot did different then dota Allstars is they allow respawning for inhibitors, used to be minion buffs where forever in the game, break a barracks its gone never to return. So comebacks in lol are a lot easier comparatively to the moba I started with. Your rarely going to see to many matches where a team wins off 3 hibis that they really needed all 3. Its often done just as a precaution by the winning team to prevent a undeserved comeback. Plenty of matches will end because of an ace into final push with some lanes having 2 towers still standing.

My feelings here are that the 3 inhibit strategy is a good option for a viable win condition, it alone is not inherently oppressive, your team has to destroy 12 objectives for it to work. If the games close its not set in stone from it being accomplished and if the games to one sided odds are you wont actually see it happen regardless. You can still comeback, you can win with 3 down, its hard but not impossible. It locks you into your base but most the time hibis respawn at different rates so you can have one rez, they minions drop down in #s and your team has a obj they need to keep up. How ever when you lose all 3 at the same time, that's when its the most oppressive, and frankly you deserve the loss from it because at that point your entire team is incapable of defending a single non nexus objective and you should never be rewarded for that.

As I mentioned my view point on this is very much influenced by my Wc3 days where you could single handedly turn a match off a good back door into building destruction because that created Permanente pressure till the game ended. Lol your on the defensive but its only till a respawn. With league if hibis are lower in value many champions are gonna drop off in viability cuz they stand out for their ability to siege.

TLDR. A comeback with 3 dead hibis should only ever be possible in a very close game. In Most games that are onesided, that you have also gone and lost all 12 objectives, it probably could have been ended sooner as it shows a team was able to consistently pressure objectives. A team doing 12 with that much of a lead is either fearful of fountain plays due to enemy comp, or does not intend to play haphazardly and they are dedicated and focused on winning the game, which hey the have been doing all game and have been better about it then any one they are vs.

Also most the time 3 hibis are down its not even the first time some of those hibis went down so its failing 13+ times to protect objectives, its most painfull when all drop at once but if your teams incapable of fighting in your own base with out having to resort to fountain your really not playing well enough to warrant the ability to come back, or your teams made a game losing mistake prior to the hibi clear.

An extra win condition I suppose. Dota has something very similar if you destroy every barrack (the game's equivalent to inhibitors), except they don't grow back.

It's the same reason Baron was changed and Elder Dragon was added. Teams could "turtle" at their base and farm up. The gold lead you built up eventually evens out and means nothing. Teams needed a way to end games without having to do something risky like team fighting under the enemy turrets.

if you let the enemy team take all 3 lanes and then walk around in your base and take your inhibs thats on you since your team didnt stop them at any point

While I agree with other comments that losing every single objective to that point SHOULD be a disaster, I'd also like to flip this: if the other team doesn't close the game before one of those inhibitors respawns, you've just gotten a few thousand gold they don't have access to. Super minions are worth the same as cannon minions, but they spawn every wave. In a weird way, if your team can rally and theirs doesn't end fast enough, it's a catch-up mechanic.

99% of the time, when you lose all 3 inhibitors, the game is over. this is a 1% game.

destroying an inhibitor gives you an advantage, killing all 3 gives an even bigger one

at some point the game has to end. what would you implement to help end the game if you removed the super minions?

Nyarlathοtep

Because riot hates comebacks.
